Shaq would be fine on offense he’d dominate. Zion doesn’t shoot either.

On defense he would be a + rim protector and man-to-man post defenders but would struggle outside the paint. Teams would try to exploit that. A young Shaq in this era takes fitness serious because of the demands of today and relative fitness of other players.
Zion is a ball handler though
Ill give you the young shaq point, but what about lakers shaq though, is he really going to play the pick and roll like he should

Players today are coming into the league with more complete offensive skill sets. What once was obscure or segmented to people in a certain neighborhood or area are now skills that can be found on YouTube for any young potential athlete to mimic and add to their game.

I’m looking at the defensive back Renaissance in the NFL where there was a time that fans would accuse Darrelle Revis of holding receivers but now a gang of these young defensive backs or pushing receivers towards the sidelines, looking towards the ball and making plays.

It’s just a different time and we have to accept it

The baseline is higher. That should be a good thing

Another big elephant in the room and said it before: when you got less Americans at the top, you have less interest by Americans.

Look at Heavyweight boxing.

Luka, Jokic, etc. are cool, but Metro, Mike Will, TM88, etc. and the culture ain't posting their highlights on ig live stories.
I said this I’m the face of the league thread

foreign players are not building real American Stans and haters. That shyt deeper than being great at baskeball

I wanna say these straight to G league players aren’t building Stanbases either but we need more time

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
This didn’t happen.

If you don’t like basketball anymore simply stop watching.
nikka please... It was the Heat game.. Can't even remember who were they playing. Me and my boy were watching and having this EXACT convo as they jacked up 3s at a retarded clip and hit nada

I don't mean 10 minutes of game action... I mean throughout running around, TO and commercials.. We sat there watching these nikkas just jack up BULLshyt for a good 10 minutes of MY time. I'm literally thinking, if these dudes took it to the whole, they'd have made a 10-0 run cause the other guys couldn't hit shyt either

Pop's criticism of the game is understandable.

But this is no different than the early 2000s when the league got together to make changes to a game that became increasingly inert, and people at the time felt that dumping the ball into the paint while everyone stood around was also a clown show.

There's probably going to be some change to swing the pendulum the other way a bit.
I think this is more of...Popovich feeling like the game has moved beyond his tolerance level for change.

He didn't see anything wrong with the ball movement and spacing that allowed his team to dominate the 2013 Miami Heat.
Now that the league has exploited that kind of game to another level, he's sick over it.

The whole thing is funny, really.

Pop didn’t criticize the league though. He is basically saying these guys are freaks they might as well move the line back and let's have a circus.

Pop was actually doing the opposite of criticizing the game.

I didn't read it that way when I first saw the clip, but alright.

the ether
Interesting that the tweet didn’t mention him saying it was more difficult to play defense because of players being better shooters. That was conveniently left out:skip:

I'm glad at least two people actually watched the video. :heh:

Pop didn't say no one plays defense, he said it is VERY DIFFICULT to defend today's NBA offenses because THERE'S TOO MANY GOOD SHOOTERS. When you can spread the court with 4-5 shooters with guys shooting from 28 feet, exactly what does a good defense look like? That's EXACTLY what he said.

It's fukking incredible that a couple dozen posters translated that into "no one plays defense", but looking at the SNs, I'm not surprised.
