I think the step back three has hurt the game more so than just the volume of threes. Threes off great ball movement is beautiful to watch. Seeing a dude just dribble for 10 seconds at the top of the key and then step back for a 3 about 8-10 times a game is horrible basketball.
This doesn’t happen like that.

For the most part only players who do things like that are elite shot creators like Lillard, Mitchell, Doncic and as far as they go it certainly isn’t ugly to watch or “horrible” basketball.

Clanking congested midrange jumpers off the dribble was horrible basketball.

I'm sure coaches of the era said it was a circus when they added the 3 pt line

Face it. Humans with time get better and better at most things including basketball

Nobody likes to play defense and all they do is shoot, even playing pick up basketball is like that.

Players today are coming into the league with more complete offensive skill sets. What once was obscure or segmented to people in a certain neighborhood or area are now skills that can be found on YouTube for any young potential athlete to mimic and add to their game.

I’m looking at the defensive back Renaissance in the NFL where there was a time that fans would accuse Darrelle Revis of holding receivers but now a gang of these young defensive backs or pushing receivers towards the sidelines, looking towards the ball and making plays.

It’s just a different time and we have to accept it

No he wouldn’t :dahell:

Would have absolutely no impact on a Shaq, Hakeem, David Robinson, etc. Act like Dwight Howard wasn’t considered the best center in the NBA years after zone defenses became legal. Tim Duncan was past his prime and still doing work in the post after zone defenses were allowed. They don’t even play zone like that in the NBA.
Shaq would most definitely have to get a jumper and be able to guard at least 3s(by 3s I mean small forwards)
You can definitely play shaq off the floor in key moments in todays nba

You know what I take that back, it depends on what team shaq is on, you would have to surround him with all shooters

This is the type of energy a defensive player in modern day has to put forward but we got jokers who don’t even contest jumpers and die on every screen in pick up critiquing the defense played in the NBA today. :dead:

I'll say this:

- Donovan Mitchell scoring 71 points the other night and then being "randomly" drug tested afterward had me thinking similarly
- ...that said, I am a proponent of them going Rock & Jock status and bringing out a 25-foot 50 point hoop in the last two minutes of the game. I bet that would bring Post Scoring back.

I am fair and balanced.

 I feel bad for Davion, we’re in the era of players trying to outdo everyone stat chasing with the amount of points they got. It’s definitely ruining the game and it’s becoming predictable.

Nothing is ruining anything.

Davion is one of the many defenders in the league that competes at a high level for y’all mfs to come on here and say no one is playing defense just because you can’t understand what’s going on, on the screen. :unimpressed:
