Emotional 50 Cent fans got mad at me stating how overrated the album is, completely ignoring or missing the fact that I saluted 50 on how effective and excellent his branding was. If more artist took his style of branding and elaborated on it, Hip Hop would be back at its golden age, in a new and reformed way
His persona, his street reputation and backstory were major factors. That's 3 million right there. But that other 7 million was just great melodies and beats and smooth voice. There were like 9 solid singles.

lmao @ at someone not understand GRODT. you're acting like 95% of the album wasn't simplistic braggadocio rhymes. please stop making a fool out of yourself. you are just the run of the mill 50 Cent fan that 50 exploited with his brand.

GRODT better than Illmatic, MBDTF, Late Regitration, It Was Written.

I'm sure you're the type of nikka to wear tanktops gym shorts and Nike slippers to the market
Don Jesus just doesn't give weight to melodies because aside from melodies GRODT is just a Prodigy album on Dr Dre beats. But melodies are everything. Same thing with commercials. It might be a catchy jingle and then after a while it gets annoying and run its course dry. GRODT had solid replay value though. Not much lyrically though If I was OP, the better argument wouldn't be branding as the major factor, it was his voice from the bullet. He had this slick grimmey slur that took him to a new stratosphere. Without that slur it would be just an okay album you're kinda right. But now that his voice has been heard so many times you forget what it was like hearing that voice. Same thing with Snoop. His music hasn't changed much, his voice just isn't new a anymore

I will take What Up Gangsta, If I Can't, Many Men, In Da Club, Heat, Bloodhound, PIMP, Poor Lil Rich, and even 21 questions over songs today. Album has a life of its own and there hasn't been a bigger hip hop album released since. Am I Wrong?

Look, we talmbout 2 albums I don't really fukk with, but both are skrait. We don't need y'all postin bum ass lyrics or talmbout sack ass 4 minute over produced bridges. Both albums hype was waaaaay bigger than the actual music. Now nikkaz actin like In Da Club was the biggest song ever :dwillhuh: it was big but not crossroads rmx big.

And the most overrated shyt is illmatic

I feel like some of them clowns at KTT are starting to trickle over here. Recently, we've seemingly had a spike in Kanye dikkriding, and it's pretty annoying if I do say so myself.

that started back in the :hamster: days though, because that's when MBDTF dropped & people were dikkriding every average leaked song.... but I do agree that now it's just too fukking much, people calling every Kanye album classic, and acting like those average ass songs he did with Paul McCartney were the dopest shyt ever.

as far as this thread goes, I don't see people overrating this album as much as some other albums which didn't have the impact GRODT did *coughyeezuscough*.... sure, it hasn't aged THAT well but calling it a classic isn't a reach... it's probably not a classic like The Chronic or Illmatic n shyt, but acting like this album is just another early-mid00s popular album is a reach too.

I don't even know why I responded to OP to begin with. Dude barely had an argument and doesn't seem capable of one. He says 'lyrically' it wasn't impressive and some of the beats are dated. Well, guess what? That could apply to a ton of overhyped hip hop albums. Including Kanye, Game, Jeezy, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne and Eminem's entire discographies.

When you start saying stuff like "ever", you need to build your case. So you think GRODT is the most overrated rap album ever? OK. That's fair. Now compare it to other highly-overrated rap albums and mention why GRODT takes the cake. Then we might take your op seriously.

Otherwise you're gonna come off as emotional. And I think this thread revealed that.
