Volpe and Wells tonight were a combined 1-8 with 3 strikeouts, 1 double play hit into, and were 0-5 with runners in scoring position. This team needs drastic improvements to the infield.if we all bet against boone/yankees in June we would all be rich we know its the same damn story every year
Remember when A-Rod would slump yet he’d always run into situations with RISP? That’s what’s happening now with Volpe.
Th difference was you knew A-Rod would get it together eventually. Volpe barely looks like a major league caliber player at all. He was hitting .223 with a .298 OBP and 4 homers over his previous 64 games coming into this one and he had yet to finish a season with even a .245 average or a .295 OBP. He is where the rally dies because the guys in front of him in the order are good enough to get on. Rodriguez would hit 3rd or 4th so Jeter and Damon were always on in front of him. Volpe is managing to do this in the middle/back of the order.
