Don't be too hard on Tremont for his Jasson Dominguez stannery.
They're both Dominican and it's only natural to root for your own.

I hope Dominguez becomes an all-star caliber player too.
That said, he's got some growing to do. The elbow injury effectively killed his 2024 season so he's only got 107 MLB games played -- less than 1 full season.

He's hitting .260-ish which is better than I thought he'd do and his contact is pretty hard.
What he's not doing is he's not squaring the ball up consistently. And he's not hitting well at home.

OPS away - .798
OPS home - .688

These things flucutate so I'm not sure how much to read into it, but you wonder if he struggles to see the ball well at Yankee Stadium. I mean Willy Adames used to complain about hitting at The Trop when he was on the Rays and the numbers actually supported it.

What's also concerning is that Dominguez appears to really suck as a RH batter. I get that there's a ton of value in being a switch hitter but he's practically unplayable as a righty.

It's not about him being Dominican either. If Spencer Jones came from Monte Cristi I'd still say he's a 6th batter with a disgusting loop in his swing.

I get they wanna platoon every fukking body that isn't Judge, Chisholm or Volpe but that's logistically impossible and not beneficial to anyone. Everyone can't be a platoon guy because the computers say "heyyy how bout it." If it's such an alarming issue, there's 2 things a smart team would do

1. Send him down and get more reps right handed.

or

2. work through it in the majors.

The reason why the Yankees won't do either is because they don't believe in him, and the former would take all the heat off Cashman because nobody's gonna yell for Everson Pereira or Bryan De La Cruz to get PT over Trent Grisham.

My overall point has never changed. They're not winning a title this year. Work on the players you want around long term, especially the ones in your system because they can save Hal's cheap ass a lot of money if they pan out. The idea that they're trying to win every game and their moves are reflective of that, we know is a lie. I just ask for some consistency at least with the lineups. If Judge over the course of a season hit 2nd today, 6th tomorrow, 9th Monday, off tuesday, 7th wednesday, 1st Thursday, you know what he won't do over the course of a season? Hit .355.

It's possible the Yankees lack confidence in Dominguez.
It's also possible he's getting a bit screwed over because the Yankees have too many bats to fit in the lineup.

OF - Judge
OF - Bellinger
OF - Dominguez
OF - Grisham
DH - Stanton

Someone's gonna be the odd man out.

I've been saying Stanton should have been off this team for like 3 years at least.

You get rid of him and that clears things up a bit. Maybe the Yankees hate the idea of a highly paid former star player riding the bench or getting traded for a case of Celsius....but that's what I think ought to happen.

And that's not mentioning Ben Rice, who is in a bit of a slump but whose metrics suggest a valuable bat.

Looking ahead, I don't think the Yankees will be able to get Eugenio Suarez at the deadline.
It's probably gonna cost them Elmer Rodriguez, Ben Hess...or both. And that's a steep price to pay for a team that's not likely to even get to the World Series. It's conceivable they could get Suarez, and suffer an injury to Fried, Rodon or Gil and the whole thing blows up in Cashman's face anyway.
