Hopefully gta6 is even more of a blockbuster

Please lord no GTA mmo please... :snoop:

This is mostly from just the damn last gen versions and current gen versions alone. The PC version sold a lot but nowhere near the console versions.

the budget for GTA 6 about to be monstrous. shyt is automatically gonna be the biggest game whenever the hell it comes out.

I wouldn't get my hopes up for GTA 6. It will probably look great but the quality of the game will take a hit. Its probably going to be mostly multiplayer too. The former president Leslie Benzies was basically the foundation for the company and now he is gone. He probably got fired for not agreeing with the Houser brothers about the microtransactions. If he was still around the GTA V single player DLC would have been out by now.

This definitely means there will not be any single player DLC for GTA V. Also single player for future GTA games and other Rockstar games might be dead.

I know money talks, but it'd be a shame if they got rid of, or spent less attention to, the single player. Rockstar has always put a lot of attention into having engaging single player stories throughout all of their properties. I don't see why they can't do that now and continue to improve GTA Online.

The "Farmville" on Facebook model created the "Pay2Win" on Mobile model which is now the new "Digital Currency" console model.

EAsports "Ultimate" team generated $650 million last year off Fifa/Madden.

They've successfully re-branded and shifted the "digital extras" conversation from the first round of horrible micro-transactions that gamers perceived as being negative to the new "digital currency market" model where if you pay, you get the game on easy mode, but free players can grind hours to have mid level content.

So far it hasn't impacted the quality of the base game of the AAA titles, but I'm guessing these huge revenue numbers basically close the chapter for single player / offline games / modes.

Also, it's not all bad for "free" players, I played Madden Ultimate pretty leisurely throughout the season without spending anything but the cost of the game, dabbled in the market, and got my team up to $2 million MUT coins. I was able to sell of those coins for $200 real world dollars, so the game paid for itself and a couple of meals.

GTA Online isn't even close to Pay2Win.

Isn't buying resources that are normally farmed or accumulated through hours of grinding and or skill through Online transactions considered the "Pay2Win" model?

I guess in this case it's just money and you can't really buy anything specific that would give you a significant edge over a player with little to no money of their own, just cosmetic shyt like cribs and cars...yeah, you right.

Pay2Win was (using the term was because everyone runs away and labels microtransactions "pay2win") a model where the player was able to buy obviously superior "gear" to anything else in game, hence the term "pay to win". If you played Minecraft, imagine Gold and Diamond items locked behind the paywall, unable to be obtained in game. In a model like GTA's, you're only saving time with cash cards. On top of that, the grind isn't really stiff outside of the super lavish items which A) Don't do much (Yacht, Mansions, etc.) or B) Already cost a fukk ton with Shark Cards. This is an optimal microtransaction model. Most useful items don't cost much and are easily obtainable ingame. Heck, you can steal most cars already, just not the supers and bikes.

Then there's the a$$hole devs who put in a similar cycle as the above, where everything is available ingame to all, but the grind is way too harsh you're obviously better off spending money if you want to take the game serious. I think Blacklight Retribution and Tribes Ascend were both like that. Planetside 2straddles that but they've been increasing the ingame currency payout through regular gameplay but the grind was pretty tough.

Anyways, I'm glad because they'll keep generating new content in order for people to spend their money on. :ehh: And it's not tipped to paying out real money.
