Had to come in and give props to one of the most influential MC's ever. His various styles i dont think will be ever matched. He is in my top 5 for sure.

I was lucky enough to see Guru perform before he passed. He did all the Gang Starr classics. Then bytch ass solar came out and they did a few songs. Hoe-lar left and Guru did some more classics.
It was epic being high af and seeing one of the greatest perform some of the greatest songs in hip hop.

I’ve been to Gang Starr a lot this year. Their catalog is very solid, probably a top 5 group for me behind Tribe, De La, Wu and Mobb Deep. I was just listening to Daily Operation today which I feel is very underrated

You know my steez is a big record for me. Big.

I was in 7th grade and that was the first Gang Starr song I ever experienced. MTV had a show called 12 angry viewers that featured music that wasn’t mainstream. It ran for about a year, and they played this video.

I had never heard a beat like that. Never heard a voice like Guru’s. His cadence had me hooked immediately. To this day I can’t think of a better complement in rap than this beat and Guru’s delivery.

Anyway I bought the CD and of course have been a fan for almost 25 years now.

This song was one of the main reasons i wound up being a fan of hip hop.
