classic track and video

Don't be mad cause I don't come around the way
Like I used to, I don't have time these days
I'm keeping busy making power moves
Don't try to say I don't remember you
You shouldn't let your jealousy show like that
I stopped coming by, cause of the way you act
Telling my business to kids I don't even know
You're like a daytime talk show, and that's low
So you can tell everyone, that I'm jerking you
And if you don't like it kid, take it personal

Demonic chapters, shall be captured by Kings

Through the storms of days after :noah:
Unto the Earth from the Sun through triple darkness
, to blast ya :bustback:
with a force that can't be compared :ehh:
To any firepower.. for it's mindpower shared :blessed:
The brainwave causes vessels to circulate :lawd:
Like constellations reflect at night off the lake :whoo:
Word to the Father and Mother Earth :blessed:
Seeking everlasting life through this Hell for what it's worth :francis:
Look listen and observe :mjpls:
And watch another Cee Cipher pulling my peeps to the curb :pacspit:
Heed the words, it's like ghetto style proverbs :lawd:
The righteous pay a sacrifice to get what they deserve :salute:
Cannot afford to be confined to a cell :patrice:
Brainwaves swell, turning a desert to a well :ahh:
Experience the best teacher :birdman:
Thoughts will spray like street sweepers :bustback:
Little Daddy street preacher
Illustrious feature, narrator you select :sas1:
Accompanied by Deck plus the DJ you respect :myman:
The seven and a half combined, over the front line :youngsabo:
The ten percenters promoting slander in the airtime :rudy:
Bear in mind jewels be the tools of the trade :obama:
Sharp veins, heavenly praise and dues are paid :blessed: -
Gangstarr (Above The Clouds)

You know my steez is a big record for me. Big.

I was in 7th grade and that was the first Gang Starr song I ever experienced. MTV had a show called 12 angry viewers that featured music that wasn’t mainstream. It ran for about a year, and they played this video.

I had never heard a beat like that. Never heard a voice like Guru’s. His cadence had me hooked immediately. To this day I can’t think of a better complement in rap than this beat and Guru’s delivery.

Anyway I bought the CD and of course have been a fan for almost 25 years now.

This song was one of the main reasons i wound up being a fan of hip hop.

RIP Guru
