This is definitely debatable, but like I said i don't know enough to be the person to do it. I think one thing i can say with conviction though, is that Jimmy Carter advocating for fairer elections really handed the country to the Indians seeing as they had the majority and voted their own in from then on, even if they didn't do anything for them. Crime, unemployment, all got worse after that Burnham era. Most of the older generation i know speak about the past in a much better light. Black people did well in old Guyana for the most part The last elections seem to be better though so let's hope the country does better.
After the Burnham's era the country was led by the Hoyte a PNC member .I know the history bruh.. But thats PNCs biggest card to play, to act like the defended blacks there, and thats fine but they going to have to answer to why so much black people were hurt and murdered under the Burnham PNC regime.
You talk about President Carter bringing in elections the whole reason he had to come in was because Burnham was running unfair elections, if the PNC would stop doing crazy shyt that wouldn't of happened.
Again Indians are a larger minority not the majority, and the fact is many blacks stopped feeling safe under the PNC, many GTs sit up here and act like the PNC some refuge for blacks in GT when they do nothing but coerce and sell out their own brothers any one. There's a reason why other parties are given rise in Guyana and the PNC had to change their name..
The country under Burnham was steeped into much more economic decay ,look at this article from the 80s, he turned a thriving economy into a major disaster. It was under the era of Burnham blacks started to leave Guyana.
Under Jagdeo ,Guyana's economy did better and was on to recovery, it wasn't the most well to do because all the damage had been done by the previous regime.
