Master Baker
She’s an updated Alicia keys - writes, plays, good voice (Alicia used to have a good voice). But whereas Alicia’s music fit the time she came out and she was able to also have appeal to people like my parents, HER seems to resonate mainly with people my age (older millennials/late gen x crowd). Her music is more akin to what we grew up on, it’s not high key toxic, it fits our life stage - shes got positive relationship songs that appeal to people who are in love.I just think the music isn’t hitting because it’s not what a lot of these young girls are like. I don’t know what her lane is supposed to be.
Someone more familiar explain her vibe to me because when I first heard of HER someone told me she was the R and B more talented black Taylor swift or some shyt.
Summer, SZA, and even Ari to an extent make music for women 15-35 who are smack in the middle of dating, casual sex, dealing with toxic relationships or immature men, being self conscious. Of course 18-34 is who determines what’s hot, and HER hasn’t really captured them.
That second album flopped hard? Summer Walker will to. What other song bubbling outside the drake feature. HER has a solid fanbase. But her musical approach of releases is awful
