I don't know. There were a lot of lyrical standouts on the album. Let me know if you disagree with any of these being lyrically nice.
Genesis
Keep it Thoro
Can't Complain
Infamous Minded
Three
Trials of Love
Veterans Memorial
You can never feel my pain
Songs like do it and rock dat shyt were lyrically wack - but that wasn't the majority to me.
What were the songs where you felt he was being carried by the production?
i always felt like they should have put that song in the middle of the album somewhere. in retrospect i like the song, but always thought the album got off to the wrong start. starting with Spread LoveYou skip streets raised me? P killed that.

Can't co-sign what you're saying about Keep It Thoro - he did that beat justice. "I gave birth to your whole style and feel how do it feel? Do hold my dikk in public. Cock-blower, duplicate rap cloner...Can't feel my pain was all production. He got bested by a chicken wings and french fry verse on 3a.m. Keep it Thoro was mostly production. Genesis was dope.
Got it. Completely agree - they should have started out with a banger.i always felt like they should have put that song in the middle of the album somewhere. in retrospect i like the song, but always thought the album got off to the wrong start. starting with Spread Love![]()
Listen to What You Rep, Rock Dat shyt, Do It. Those joints weren't as powerful as his earlier work. That was the sign of the decline - but the decline really started on MM.HOE was a great, great album. But HNIC is much more substantive. It's a fair argument. I don't get why anyone would think P had fallen off on HNIC -- that was Prodigy at his most heartfelt and conscience and poetic. If you think lines like "open my wings to a new day, spread my lungs" aren't lyrical, we just have two entirely different ideas about what lyricism actually is.

His verse was nice on Three - mega might have had the better verse - but that don't mean P was being carried by the beat.
And you can't be serious about You Can Never Feel My Pain?
I'm just gonna leave this here:
Nineteen seventy four, motherfukker I was born wAnnotateith pain
My moms and my pops pass it down to me
So don't talk to me about can I feel yours
Cause I ain't feelin you at all, your pain isn't pure
You cryin cause you broke from the projects
That's not pain, that's emotions, you a bytch
Im talkin bout permanent, physical sufferin
You know nothin about that
You just complain cause you stressed
nikka, my pain's in the flesh
And through the years that pain became my friend; sedated
With morphine as a little kid
I built a tolerance for drugs, addicted to the medicine
Now hospital emergency treat me like a fiend
I rather die sometimes I wish a nikka O.D
Beggin God for help, only to find
That I'm all by my God damn self
Ay you can never feel my pain nikka
The impact I put on this earth
It's like nuttin that you ever seen or heard; so look listen
When I speak, sit up in your seat
Pay attention to the words, cause the story is deep
In and out of crisis, since before I could walk
It gave me strength though, nowadays I hardly talk
It made me cold-hearted, anti, I won't play sports
I barely joke or play games, take it how you want
My handicap took its toll on my sanity
My moms got me at the shrink at like 13
And doctors called the cops on me
Cause I be throwin IV poles and they ignore me
I gotta, try to calm down and breathe
I can only hold it but for so long; put me to sleep
Do I sound insane... if I do, then this here was written for you
Couldn't disagree more as it relates to Can Never Feel My Pain. He was sloppy at times on the album as a whole though.Sounds like rambling under the influence more than rap lyrics. He was pretty sloppy through out the whole album. Saved by production and having a dope voice.
very very true. I personally think a good starter woulda been Quiet Storm (then save the remix for later) or What's Ya Poison...EASILYi always felt like they should have put that song in the middle of the album somewhere. in retrospect i like the song, but always thought the album got off to the wrong start. starting with Spread Love![]()
