I spoke on this before but there's clearly no direction. NXT talent is divided into three groups (tag teams excluded):
The top: established names from other promotions. They beat everyone below them and only have true feuds with each other.
The midcard: homegrown talent and lesser known indie guys who have a decided gimmick/persona and only have matches for more experiences. They might occasionally have a match against a top card guy but they're never, and I mean NEVER, elevated. It's basically purgatory until the inevitable call-up.
The jobbers: rookies who have to get experience doing matches live and shyt. They only feud with midcard guys and always lose. This happens until they find their gimmick/persona, at which point they disappear only to re-debut a bit later straight into the midcard.
Look at that construction and tell me what's wrong here? Literally no one gets elevated. Ever! People can talk about how Tye Dillinger will never be more than a midcard guy on the main roster, but what good is it to have him lose every big match at every single TakeOver (much like Tyler Breeze before him). Why not take a risk, give them a chance and see if they will reach out and grab the brass ring? There's literally no reason to care about most feuds because you know they don't change anything for anyone.
