Hakeem has never taught a big man that actually had a good base of moves and an understanding that the hook shot is the foundation, the moves are just a means to get the hook off and the counters are what you do when they take away the initial hook attempt.

:dead: because I know that gif is exactly how u feel

Noel gonna play a WHOLE season at center, only doing cleaning up work..... then he's gonna be expected to play PF the next season. Philly will then waste a whole season of trying him at the 4 - finally realizing it's not gonna work.

There goes 1-2 seasons down the drain plus a lottery pick. On the contrary if Embiid can't stay healthy, that'll be 1-2 seasons down the drain plus a lottery pick too.

My goddamn self. Shout out to my real Africans
I agree with most folks in this thread. I hope the lid bounces back and is able to stay healthy. He already has the foundation needed to really take Hakeems program and be a great big man in the post.

Cause after Duncan is gone all we are gonna have are stretch 4s and 5s with no back to the basket game and limited face up game.

This era of stretch bigs is a fad. LeBron and the Heat capitalized on an era of weakness for bigs (also the fact that they are in this historically weak conference) and teams are trying to mimic their success. Once a team finds itself dominating on the inside game and consistently winning using that tried and true formula then things will go back to normal I believe.

Though this is also the product of the system. The overall skill level of basketball prospects has decreased more over time due to teams valuing potential more than ability. You got bigs coming in like Embiid who have been playing basketball for less than 5 years, so that decline should have been suspected.

I mean, the Spurs were able to exploit it...

Duncan was cleaning up and getting smaller guys on him... and scoring

Diaw also operated from the post quite a bit and facilitated with great interior passing and ocassional scoring

I hope Embiid recovers and can play with no restrcitions, he really has the footwork and fluidity to take in Hakeem's teaching

And Kobe and LeBron really are the only two that I've seen improve their post games from learning from Dream.

Kobe utilizes a lot of Hakeem's counters because his footwork is the best there is...

LeBron learned to operate from the post and create for his teammates rather than operating via the dribble at the top of the circle... the Heat get away from that too much though. Because Wade is a good post up man too.
