lol yall are funny
they should probably just tell them you are supposed to wear suits during interviews too, they shouldnt force them too
long hair, for any race is taboo in the real world and good luck trying to find a high level job with it.
nikkas really cryin' racism over this and actin' like blacks are being singled out for long hair
As if there are a bunch of white dudes with high-level corporate jobs getting away with 80s glam metal hair
Y'all better get with the program
Did you dudes read the article or skim through it? Its not a long hair ban; its a dreads and cornroll ban. There was no mention of 'long hair' in the article.
And Hampton isn't a 'high level corporate job', its a university.
Do mostly white universities have bans on certain hairstyles? I'm not sure (I'm not currently in the position to do the research) but do they ban normal hairstyles that are frequently worn by white males of the age group? I doubt it. If they ban hairstyles, they probably ban crazy radical shyt. And if they have long hair bans, its just a long hair ban regardless of style.
There's nothing specifically radical about dreads. Or cornrolls for that matter. Nothing. So why the ban? This would be the equivalent of a Jewish university banning those little curls some orthodox Jews rock. Its cultural but most importantly, its extremely common. Treating it as radical (or political as one dumb broad put it) would treat blackness itself as radical. Its dreads. It doesn't get more normal than that, with the exception of a mini-fro.
If Hampton wants a uniform connected to the school, fine, tell the students to wear a uniform. If there's a long hair ban connected to it or if there's a long hair ban at all, okay that's cool. The same is true for corporate jobs and the like. But don't single out cornrolls and dreads. Hairstyles we've been wearing for 100,000 years? If you don't see the slave mentality in defending such a thing, you're lost.
