It's a cute title but it's far from the worst deferment.

Nah breh, neither of these are the same.

the Nats and Orioles will pay the rest of the contract over those years. It is still within the original confines of the deal. Scherzer took half now and the other half after his contract is up and Davis just took a longer route to get $42 million.

Bonilla turned $5.9 million into nearly $30 million. Its not even close to the same and no MLB team does what the Mets did.

Exactly. Its not even close to the same.:mjlol:.

If anything, Scherzer and Davis got it way worse with the deferred money.:mjlol:.

They signed terrible deals, imo.

Mark McGwire, Ken Griffey, and Barry Bonds signed deferred deals and got interest on their salaries from what I remember (Not a crazy amount, just one or two percent).

Once the terms of the Bonilla deal got out, no one was offering interest anymore. Scherzer and Davis signed stupid deals, imo.

This, it's weird now, but the deal wasn't out of the norm back then. :yeshrug: It's funny and all but it's hardly the "lol mets" example I'd point too in terms of stupid contracts, we've got hundreds of worse ones.

The Mets were also paying Bonilla from his first contract too. They were paying Brett Saberhagen 250k for the last three years too.

The Bonilla contract was different because of the high interest rate they agreed too.
