Slightly off topic but great interview from Eric B on what was going on behind the scenes during the beef. First time hearing it a few weeks back. Even Eric B was strapped for Nas just in case anything went down

Lol. Im trying to remember but pretty much, we all agreed that nas killed jay. At that time, we were happy that they were battling and it didnt end up becoming violent. Thats what we remember the most. It actually elevated hip hop especially after the tupac and biggie fiasco. It was jay vs nas and also jada vs beans. The roc vs new york pretty much. Eminem was hot at the time so folks were sizing him up. Thats when you saw the whole benzino and source vs eminem beef take off. I think benzino was calling him out back then too. Then the 50 vs ja rule beef was simmering in the background because 50 was dissing murda inc on those mixtapes.
You also have to remember this was right after 9/11 so there was so much worry in the air. Winters were cold back then too. That was a cold ass winter too.
The nas vs jay basically educated america on what rap/hip hop was. Eminem followed up with 8 mile and then thats what made hip hop pop culture
