:childplease: thats like me coming up with a dance and calling it the vice lord shuffle. do you think id be able to do some shyt like that and not get any heat from REAL LIFE vice lords?

Is Harlem a gang or is it a city?

Was the original "harlem shake" anything of merit? Was it anything more than the macarena or the superman dance?

Get fukking real.

talking about "back in my day, the dance maneuver was a simple shimmy of the arms to the left and right with furious velocity. Sometimes the shirt was involved for stability of the flailing limbs. This new incarnation is a completely mockery and blasphemous of the sacred institution none as the Harlem Shake. I'm appalled at this travesty. I will be placing a complaint to the congressional library."

:rudy: its a fukking stupid dance. Harlem's history is full of great black writers, actors and civil right leaders like malcolm. That's what they should be proud of. Why would anyone even be proud of that original Harlem dance which is one of the most homosexual dances of all time :scusthov:

Exactly, who the fukk takes pride in Diddy shaking his shoulders like an idiot.

Who claims that?

Langston Hughes is one of the great American poets but the Harlem Shake is the refined culture some want to protect?

How is it disrespecting black people?

It's a bunch of people dancing around like idiots. It's fun.

If it was the MLK shake then you might have something.

I never said that, I said they are making fun of them. Which they are. They do that because they can't do the dance properly. Just like that Gundnam Style crap is a spin-off of Hip Hop culture. I don't like that 'craze' either.

I don't like when people take black culture & turn it into something like they made, simply because they can't do it right & then profit off of it

Nah, this is more just you being an over-sensitive bytch and the usual idea of wanting to make everything a race issue.

I seen the Harlem Shake video done with puppies.

The song is called Harlem Shake, , I`m sure many people in these viral videos never even seen the original.

:ld: You make a very good point there, with the Gangnam Style comparison, no hip hop track has ever seen anywhere near the amount of popularity and exposure as Gangnam style which is sad because it's simply a parody designed to poke fun at mainstream hip hop music. It seems that in order for these things to get mass appeal they have to be re-appropriated by non black people in order for it to be more easily digestible for the general public.

exactly

This is another example. Listen to the cac boy in the stands not even knowing the name of the song :snoop:

Then the original, where they stole it...from a band right down the street. :stopitslime: SU

The problem is that they take the stuff, use as if they made it & don't give credit to the origin. I don't like that.
