Yeahh.. this is false as well breh. Literally just spent almost the entire year out there. Maybe you were in Limpopo or something but I'm not sure how tapped in you are to the scene but they play rap/hip hop at Tempo, Saints, Opera (they literally have hip/hop and r&b nights on Tuesdays and Trap music night Thursdays lol), Louis, and Montana.

Amapiano is obviously the most popular genre being homegrown but Hip/Hop and R&B is still heavily played. Travis scott concert coming up is literally sold out lol. We're talking about SA here, which is basically a microcosm of the west lol

I'm in Montana right now :wow:

Which amapiano tracks are getting play on the radio?

Its not music for a radio format but the streaming has outpaced afrobeats

Its not like much post covid afrobeats is on American radio stations or entering billboard top 40

ion know. i hear less and less afrobeats played on the popular radio stations now. a few years ago, afrobeats was all over the major urban stations. not even sure what the top tunes are now.

in Nigeria its a big topic on why "Afrobeats popularity is declining" so not just some "western" thing

So Afrobeats not the competition anymore, it's some other African shyt. I don't remember none of how genres trying to compete with these Johnny Come Lately's. Notice they only trying to compete with one thing?

How you trying to compete with a genre over 40 years old and you just got here? I don't remember Sean Paul doing this and we just enjoyed the music. The spelling of Sean Paul if you don't give a damn we don't give a fukk.

Why do these people only want to compete with our standout when R&B lapped any and every thing they can pull past, present, and future?

One sided beef. Ain't nobody listening to no Afrobeats or am a piano. Your enclaves don't make shyt hot

Afrobeats is on the decline. It got too popular, taking it away from what made it special.

And all of the crossover songs aren't really good.

I predicted it would end up the same route as reggaeton
