i would like to know too.

I once applied to an Equity Analyst position in Calgary and what they did was send an email to 80/1200 applicants. In the email there were a series of about 8 more questions including one where you had to take a company's (Samsonite :what:) equity research report (Deutsche Bank) and then use it to analyze the company's future and make your own recommendation for the stock. Didnt hear back after that though :(

Tips?

did you fly out for the interview, or was it done through say skype or something?

I recently did this. I put my parents address on my resume to get more hits on it & it worked. Let them know you're "trying" to relocate. Just make sure you're serious about the job & if the situation & pay's right then handle your business. I've flown twice for this job so there's seriously considering me which they let me know as well

I did, half way across the country , i had three interview while i was still in my home state it was a conference call with 3 human resources people (which i requested). Later on that day they told me they were interested interviewing me , i told them i would be moving to the new city in two weeks if that was cool ? they said yea.

Are you just applying randomly in the new city and hoping you hear something back and that will decide your move? Or are you moving to new city regardless?

Only basic tip i can give you for now is to not be scared to ask for phone or skype interviews, also if it seems likely that your are going to get the job be prepared to give firm dates on your move there. I told them i would be moving there on day X and would be prepared to start work a week later on day Z. I also had a skype interview for another job in the new city which i eventually turned down, and it was pretty much just like a regular interview but via skype, i dressed up and prepared the same way i would for a normal interview.

I've done it multiple times.

Drove to one that was a couple hours away, and another to match when I was flying in to visit my wife (gf at the time). Some companies will comp the flight for you, if not try to get them to agree on a video interview.

Relocated to Socal..but within the same company.
Phone interview. And my reputation preceded me. :win:

Went back to NY though because it wasn't the right fit.
