Yeah english is quite wide-spread from what I experienced. I personnaly LOVED the food, I love mid-eastern/arabic food and it's basically the same, fruits and vegetables were
TBH I was there with this project, so I didn't pay for accomodation or food most of the time...did not feel threatened once, but we were mostly in Tel-Aviv which is kind of removed from most threaths from what I understood...well this one time we were visiting Old Jerusalem and a girl of our group left her backpack unattended, the group leader (Israeli) freaked out
If you're into religious stuff, you NEED to go to Jerusalem that's for sure. It was def strange seeing these teenage soldiers eating ice-cream and texting while holding an automatic tho. All in all, was a short stay but very interesting experience.
