1) I've never heard any logic songs so I have no idea what you're talking about. Every song on hamilton is a part of the story that's being told, all I hear is the rhymes and melodies. If you feel like they sound like logic thats on you, I've never heard his music

2)Not enough diversity?!?! The main cast is made up of black/puerto ricans/white/asian....how much more diverse did you want?

3) there's so many call backs to classic hip hop records. The message, shook one's, ten crack commandets etc..Google search and you'll see more

Diversity in the styles of flow and bars like @Stormbringer said. I must not have been clear enough. Not ethnic diversity.

@Dafunkdoc_Unlimited got it right, too.

It's one of those pieces of 'art' that I can see how other people love it, but it's not my cup of tea because an element important to ME is missing.

fukk that CAC shyt

Stop being small minded, theres literally 2-3 white people in total. This is why I bring this topic up, I dismissed this entire thing for years not realizing its a piece of art and the immense talent being showcased by a group of black/hispanic people

This has gotten praise from nas, jay z, the roots, busta rhymes, Eminem etc. Busta rhymes sat down with the entire cast after he saw the show because he was so inspired, he kept going for an entire year after that just to kick it with them. Beyonce got inspired by the way king George walks on stage and used that same walk for one of her videos. I can go on and on but to just dismiss this because white people like it is super ignorant.

We're talking about a musical that made old white people love hip hop/rnb because it's greatness was too much to deny. This show received pulitzer prize, Grammy, Emmy's, Tony's awards and a Oscar nomination. The Obama invited them to the white house to perform. You don't get that much universal acclaim by being corny

This shyt is perfect to get kids from the hood into acting/theater while also teaching them a history lesson

That is the reason to dislike it.
They don't "love" something unless it promotes confusion and destruction. I'm not rocking with it because it promotes neoliberal values that have destroyed most of the world.

:wow: came back to post the Disney plus trailer, first time seeing it I should've posted it from the beginning. It catches so many dope moments from the movie

I watched it this weekend, it was sensational. The rapping wasn’t great but it’s not at all the point. Lin Manuel Miranda is a generational talent.

That's a fact. The amount of accolades he has is incredible, very deserving

His accolades include three Tony Awards, three Grammy Awards, two Laurence Olivier Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, an Annie Award, a MacArthur Fellowship Award, a Kennedy Center Honor, and a Pulitzer Prize.

Just attended my first live performance last night in Des Moines.

Sound mixing sucked during two of the best songs (Schuyler Sisters, Satisfied) but other than that I was very happy even though I knew it would be jarring to see it with a different cast.

Not gonna lie I even shed some tears twice, during Wait For It and also the final song with Eliza. The lady playing Eliza was asian but I can't look up the name at the moment, she was phenomenal.

Got hype as hell during Reynolds Pamphlet, Washington On Your Side, and 10 Duel Commandments. Those songs live were crazy, I couldn't sit still in my seat as much as I tried.

It was a 9/10 for me live but the soundmixing made me enjoy it less than Disney recording. The person playing Hamilton was a HUGE improvement on Lin Manuel, that was the best part. He was amazing, with all 3-singing, acting, raps

:mjpls:

Good read. His wife's family were known slave owners in upstate ny, he mightve had slaves in his house serving her.

Also from the same article

“While Hamilton was Treasury Secretary, his anti-slavery activities did lapse, but he resumed them after he returned to New York and went back into private law practice, working again with the New York Manumission Society,” he writes. “Elected one of its four legal advisers, he helped to defend free blacks when slave masters from out of state brandished bills of sale and tried to snatch them off the New York streets. Does this sound like a man invested in the perpetuation of slavery?”

“I think it’s fair to say Hamilton opposed the institution of slavery,” Hogeland says. “But, as with many others who did in his time, that opposition was in conflict with widespread practice on involvement in the institution.”

Either way, it doesn't take away from the musical. Hamiltons Life and The Creation of the US is the backdrop but the real magic is in the songs and performances by the stage actors. The entire cast became famous over night, besides lin, they were all struggling stage actors looking for their one moment to shine. Leslie Odom Jr , who stole the show, went on to play Sam Cook and receive a Oscar/Golden globe nominations for best supporting Actor. One of the Background Actors who had a few lines went on to play the lead role in West side Story and won best actress. Anthony Ramos got the Lead role in Transformers, Lin ended up doing the Music for Encanto and we know what a beast that was. Everyone is super Talented and this show just showcases it

I can go on, but you get the point. Just watch it for what it is :manny:
