The funny thing about this statement is. These rappers claim Wayne as a influence, but musicially when you hear em you hear more Future.

When Im listening to a Lil Baby, Gunna, Polo G song Im not hearing wayne at all. Im hearing Future. Only one's that lean more towards Wayne are Thug n Uzi. But then you hear Future influence in their music as well, one of em even called himself Baby Pluto for a year.
Tbh it took awhile for future to get his signature sound. He used to sound like a fake 2chainz like I wanna say ‘14 when be started developing it and has been evolving the formula as the time goes

You right. The style that every one ran with was developed in 2013. Around this era. This mixtape was the catalyst. Nothing was the same after this joint.

I feel without Wayne's success we would have Future but I'd rather Future cause he's a better writer. Wayne is mostly punchline heavy which can be cool but it's not 2008 anymore.

Lil wayne was the biggest rapper on the planet for 3 years (2006-2009). Future has barely been the biggest rapper out of Atlanta. Until last year, Gucci and Thugga were bigger ATL artists than Future.

How is this a comparison?

(For the record I think Wayne is overrated as fukk and I was the East Coast rap head who never really cared for him/....but i cant deny him as one of the GOAT candidates due to how massive his run was)

:yeshrug: I mean Future dropped this.

There was lowkey a message to this shyt. That’s why YouTube kept taking it down. The original video at one point had over a 100 million views. I’ll never forget when I saw Korryine Gaines getting harassed by that cop and she was blasting this in the background. Magazines and white hipsters kept hyping Kendrick shyt that year as some time of pro black anthem, but iykyk, this was really being played outside. If Future ain’t better, I for sure would rather play him more nowadays than Wayne. Wayne for me has just been an exhausted let down since at LEAST 2009.

:yeshrug: Also Future’s mixtapes>>>>Wayne’s

Never got into Wayne’s mixtapes, honestly. I’ll even put Gucci’s shyt above Wayne.
