Has Guardians replaced Star Wars?

Guardians gave me that space adventure with new worlds and planets feeling like George Lucas films did.

It was entertaining but it's nowhere near as close.

Guardians one crushed buildings, the sequel might have made money but if fans are truly honest it was a steep decline. I think the new star wars could have been matrixbut we know how that ended

Star Wars is a cultural cornerstone, so much that people still talk about the first time they watched it in cinema 40 years later, I don't see Guardians carrying that legacy. Star Wars is big to the point that even people who haven't seen the movie get most of the references.
Other thing about Star Wars is that it is bigger than the movies themselves the toys and merch outsell them by far, Guardians...nah. If post MCU Guardians can retain the same legacy maybe there can be a conversation.

Empire Strikes raised the bar from the already great debut of A New Hope.

GOTG2 was less of a film than GOTG.

Im not a SW fan but....
ppl been waiting for SW sequels for decades.
GotG is just another marvel cash grab that ppl will forget soon enough.
Having said that.... disney will run SW into the ground with all these sequels, prequels and spinofs

SW as a franchise ... NO .. NEVER.. GOTG will never reach the merchandising level SW has.. which I would say was luck on Lucas' part cause fox had no faith in it..

now SW as individual movies is another story

SW ep 1-3 ... TIE
SW ep 7-9 .. yes..

SW is a lot... you got the EU/legend, Clone wars, Rebels, etc....

No why is this even a question to ask?

Guardians has two movies. Star Wars has 10. Guardians has a few toys here and there but Star Wars is a merchandising juggernaut and still is. So long as that merchandise continues from toys to blankets to lamps to cereal, guardians will never be on that level.

Every generation has had their Star Wars. Older heads had the originals. My gen has the prequels, the new gen has what’s going on now. That’s 40 years worth of movies and not even including:

The Ewoks cartoon
The droids cartoon
Clone wars
Rebels
Christmas special

So this isn’t even a fair comparison. At all.

Guardians is a brightly lit candle. Star Wars is the sun. That shyt don’t even out

GOTG Vol 3 + Captain Marvel are suppose to shift the focus of marvel from earth bound to cosmic

the james gunn stuff has them hemmed up dont know how kevin feige is going to skate past it

but they been unbeatable for 10 years running
