Take a listen to this and tell me why guntalk was needed. Adrian Marcel - 2AM. ft. Sage The Gemini:
maybe it's me getting older but certain type of hiphop i use to like makes me cringe when i hear it cause of how trivial they make taking another black man's life sound. getting pass the beat and hype the vigor, repetitiveness, style, and nonchalant manner in which nikkas are killed or should be killed makes black lives seem less than insects. And It's not only gangster rap but even today's tight pants backpack dancy rap you'll be dancing to a nice beat and somehow out of nowhere they either "got the heat ready for nikkas", "got nikkas ready to handle nikkas" or something along those lines. it's sad and scary how we got to the point where we find this shyt normal and i can't lie i'll probably still keep listening to that type of music for a few more years cause of the childhood memories associated with it but no way i'll play that shyt around my kids when i have a family.

Sony, Universal (Vivendi), and Warner Brothers own 90% of the record labels.

Independents went from 28% to 10.

Jesus

:manny:

expect it to dwindle even further to about 5% by mid 2015

considering that the Majors are trying to snatch up the digital aggregators (distribution) CD BABY that cater to independents labels like myself

just when I thought I was FREE :blessed:

I find out that my digital distributor TUNECORE just partnered up with UNIVERSAL RECORDS.....so technically I'm signed to the "farm league" of a Major
:snoop:

tunercore-and-universal.jpg

and SONY has purchased half of ORCHARD DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION

if you wondering what a Digitial Aggregator aka Distributor does...they basically they deliver your product to various store fronts and streaming sites like ITunes...and Spotify

it's gotten so bad that nearly all these digital stores and streamers will NOT accept your material UNLESS you are with a Digital Aggregator. ..so in reality THERE ARE NO INDEPENDENTS!

look how much ground Orchard covers.....smh

The Secret Meeting that Changed Rap Music and Des…:
I made a thread a few months ago about this article supposedly written by some unnamed music industry head. It that article he said that several decades ago he had been invited to a meeting where he and other music industry heads had been asked to switch the focus of their music onto songs that glorified violence and criminality. The reasoning behind this was that it would create more criminals and thus more prisoners, leading to more money for the prison industrial system.

The author of the article says he immediately left the meeting on moral grounds but that soon after the meeting there was a huge boom in gansta rap and the whole violent rap culture.

I read that too. He said that if he even spoke about it, those execs would kill off his whole family.

http://www.thecoli.com/threads/did-...ack-radio-after-the-million-man-march.251707/
elaborate, please.

Before the million man march you had songs like this being played on mainstream rap radio:

Farrakhan used the black owned radio stations, newspapers, and media outlets to organize 1 million black men to come together and hear a message that told them about the history of racism, we don't need white people to solve our problems, and the importance of community and doing for self.

White supremacy saw that as a threat (what if he mobilized black men to pick up arms :lupe:) and since then hip-hop on the radio has been 100% non positive. Haven't done a lot of research on the subject, but it's an interesting to say the least :ehh:

It makes no sense.
It seems to me a song is not deemed cool enough unless it talks about killing your fellow brotha. This is the propaganda being pushed upon our kids.
I'm not even sure there is hope for the future at this point.

I cut my cable off like 4 years ago. I stopped listening to the radio and I don't even watch the news anymore. That shyt is NOT healthy for us man. There was a report that even said when black boys watch TV it lowers our self esteem.
