What kinda restrictions do they put on you?

very little from what I've come to be aware of :ld:

which is what attracted me to them in the first place

other than the fact that I found out recently that although I receive 100% of my mechanical royalties that this ONLY relates to sales in the UNITED STATES :shaq2:

by mechanical royalties im talking bout money from digital downloads and on demand streaming plays...

basically I'm gonna have to use another entity to chase down my money........

so their could be some sales out their in the global market I'm unaware of :noah:

which doesn't MAKE ANY FUKKING SENSE, because if it's DIGITALLY UPLOADED TO THE WORLD WIDE WEB..THAN THAT PUT IT'S IN THE GLOBAL MARKET BY FUKKING DEFAULT!!!! :mindblown:

my other concern is this recent partnership with UNIVERSAL.....from what I see in the press releases..UNIVERSAL claims they will only be offering "mastering" (engineering) services for indy artists and labels.....

that's cool and everything.......but they haven't made it clear about WHO RETAINS THE RIGHTS TO THE MASTER RECORDINGS I submit to them???

particularly once my deal is over with........ :why:

I'm already getting on my artists about walking away from various producers without their masters...

and we all know how these MAJORS are like crack fiends when it comes to those master recordings

:dahell:Why is Tech N9ne the only nikka to be on his own man and not fukk with these evil Jews? He owns his own label and makes the Rap Forbes List with no Tv no Radio. He doesn't talk about killing nobody or nothing. Jcole, Drake, and Kanye are top sellers right now and don't promote murder so the trend is changing somewhat.

I remember Rakim saying his deal with Dre and Interscope fell through because Dre told him "I want you to rap about killing somebody" Rakim was like nah I ain't with that.

I remember G-Unit stans shyt on Rakim because he didn't want to talk about gunplay.

But regardless whether there is a link to rap lyrics and crime what self respecting person would want his life to seem so trivial and worthless that people just casually sing about killing people like him. why don't we try rapping about killing whitey and jews 24/7 and see their reaction?

LOL..This...If its just entertainment , let them try rapping about those topics and see how fast they get shutdown.

Hip hop may not be the cause. But it sure as hell doesn't help.

I don't know about J. Cole but Kanye & Drake rap about getting people killed all the time.

Before the million man march you had songs like this being played on mainstream rap radio:

Farrakhan used the black owned radio stations, newspapers, and media outlets to organize 1 million black men to come together and hear a message that told them about the history of racism, we don't need white people to solve our problems, and the importance of community and doing for self.

White supremacy saw that as a threat (what if he mobilized black men to pick up arms :lupe:) and since then hip-hop on the radio has been 100% non positive. Haven't done a lot of research on the subject, but it's an interesting to say the least :ehh:

:ohhh: Hmmmmmmm.
