I Really Mean It

I know it's a necessity, a measure that has to be taken in the face of a threat that cares nothing for the inconvenience it poses, but I'm only now coming to terms with the reality that this mandated "shelter in place" order that is spanning the country will now be the norm for the indefinite future. It's just hard to grasp, really. I'm used to chilling with friends on Friday and Saturday, hitting up a bar, chatting it up with a woman whose place I may have a chance at visiting when the evening ends. That ritual, for the time being, is over. Trips downtown to stroll through Copley mall are over. My only time outside is spent on groceries and fruitless hunts for disinfectants. It's just strange how abruptly our lives have changed due to this virus.
