You're not a real Jay-Z fan, then. Stop sayin' stuff like this.

I'm not even gonna dignify this statement with "proof" of the scores of "substance" filled songs.

Yes, Jay is basically a dude that markets an image, rather than create art, nowadays. But, I look at albums like The Blueprint 3 and Magna Carta Holy Grail :gag: and still understand he has plenty of GOAT candidate like bars all through his catalog.

I've basically accepted that he's done and really has been takin a victory lap over the 6 years or so.

But, yea' The Blueprint 3 and Magna Carta Holy Grail are horrible Rap records.
Maybe I'm not then, even though I've been following his career since Reasonable Doubt. I'm just looking to see other people's opinions on the matter.

I will admit, I'm not a die hard fan like some of you, but I definitely give credit where credit is due. I'm not trying to create a troll or sensationalist based thread. I'm too old for that

I'm asking an honest question to the Coli for their opinions...this isn't trolling.
To say Jay Z has no song of any substance. Then also claim to be a fan. U must be a functional retard not to understand what is meaningful and impactful when it comes to rap. but In my opinion u r just bored and wanted to stir sh1t up.

So, I guess it isn't possible to be a fan of someone's music/art and be critical of it without being called a hater or troll?

I agree with the OP

Except Jay gives you thought provoking bars every album

Just, his album concepts are so shallow

I'm glad I forgot all that psuedo intellectual promotional he just did :smh;

What evolution? This dude went from making poetic raps about slinging drugs and releasing a classic to making songs about clappin asses for Tom Ford.

That's a devolution.

I think at this point we all know what to expect from Jay right? lol...he is 40+ now with a family..and still can only rap about bullshyt and big himself up...just give up, let Jay be the pop star he wants to be....he will never be the GOAT rapper

His music just can not touch peoples lives like the music of many other great artists, it's too shallow.

hov evolved from the broke rapper to the rich rapper. one of the smartest rappers in the industry, business wise.

Has he gotten "better" as a rapper? nah... fell off awhile ago when he started doing collabs with Drake (off that).

Has he gotten smarter on how to make even more money? yeah. power moves all day long - the history is there
