"Moment of Clarity" is really a great song, although the beat is not the best.

And the music i be makin
I dumb down for my audience
And double my dollars
They criticize me for it
Yet they all yell "Holla"
If skills sold
Truth be told
I'd probably be
Lyricly
Talib Kweli
Truthfully
I wanna rhyme like Common Sense
(But i did five Mil)
I ain't been rhymin like Common since
When your sense got that much in common
And you been hustlin since
Your inception
fukk perception
Go with what makes sense

Jay just want that cash and I cant fault him for shyt.
The real question is can superficial change really count as evolution?

Not for a second do i think the recent changes in his image and slight change in his content is genuine. More a necessary move for survival at a time in hiphop when 'im just a hustler gettin his money' gimmick has fallen out of favor to 'im an artiste' gimmick, so out goes hov the hustla now it's hov the art collector and indie rock fan. Since working with Kanye on WTT he's learned how to hide the regular jiggy/flossy raps under the guise of 'black excellence' and psuedo pro-black posturing, adopting a 'see me see you' ethos swagger jacked straight from Mitt Romney's campaign.
:lupe;

Whats funny is that nikkas expect Hov to do some Distant Relatives type shyt.

What's funny is Jay is more about the art now then he was early in his career. Early in his career he was in it strictly for the dough and openly mocked those who weren't. Supposed Jay fans complaining about his "substance" is so disingenuous.

He used to kick street smarts before now its all about braggin

Why do you gotta call it braggin?

We want these guys rap about their lives and when they do it's not good enough. The guy is a fukkin half a billionaire, a legend in his field, a fukkin icon... and he's HAPPY. Are these guys not allowed to be HAPPY???? They should just fukkin bytch and complain for 12 tracks straight? You never see anyone say "yo I wish this muthafukka would stop talkin about growin up poor"..... cause the fukkin rap nerds love hearin about that shyt and they can't get enough of it. But the moment these rappers start reflecting on the POSITIVE shyt in their lives... now they're just bragging.

These guys came from NOTHING and now they have EVERYTHING. They're just tryna share that joy and that feeling with the audience. Stop hatin.

I've come to this conclusion. Maybe I just want him to just spill his guts out on a track cause I'm one of those people who know that Jay does have it in him. I guess my criticism comes from dissapointment than any sort of "hate" or "trolling".

But why not? I'm sure that's coming...and I'm pretty sure his fans would really appreciate it especially coming from where he's been till now.
Who are you speaking for exactly? Because last I checked a million fans appreciated his latest album enough to spend money on it in a climate where the so-called hottest mcs in the game can't even sell 100k after a couple of weeks. Everyone has an opinion on what Jay should be doing, and are disappointed when he doesn't, but for each one of you that are disappointed there is a new fan who likes what he's currently doing.

Music is primarily made to entertain, and he's entertaining people. Maybe not people like you who for whatever reason want to get all emotional and "connect" with the artist, but he is entertaining many. Whether you like it or not isn't important, because I think the new Drake album is trash, but you won't find a single post from me in that thread saying that. Music is subjective, and everything ain't for everyone, the sooner you realize that the less disappointed you'll be.

how has he not evolved when just on his newest album he opens up about how hes dealing as a parent and a husband? jay-z blue is a honest track even if you dont personally like it. all of jay-z music is introspective to a degree because he raps from first-person perspective instead of telling stories about others.
