Beating Drake at his own game is cool to add to the resume, but well regarded in the exact same place. Kendrick won by basically treating this beef like another one of his album concepts when it’s clear Drake wasn’t thinking nearly that far ahead. Relistening to Euphoria’s foreshadowing shows how everything after domino effects from there. That said, as much as I enjoyed this recent streak of songs, he has plenty of album cuts that I’d listen to before any one of them. Similar to how I don’t view Ether as a top 20 Nas song, both of their discographies have more creative, profound things to say than calling their opponents lying pedophiles and dikkriding fakkits.

However, I was originally stumped on what follows Mr. Morale and this gave me a better idea of how the next album might sound. If he doesn’t actually build a whole album around Not Like Us, it would make sense to have at least a few songs in the same lane after this record-breaking reception.

He was already in the top 10 as far as lyricist goes… so no his placement didn’t change

You don’t get any points for winning against someone who’s not a lyricist

I see your point, Drake was probably light work for him at the end of the day. But I do like that he showed this new generation that it's not about popularity or having the machine behind you, it's about skill and talent. They needed that reminder.

He’s always been up there for me, tbh. Since Section 80.

Drake probably fell out hard because I just don’t see a world where he does what Kendrick did to him with different flows and styles. He has a good corner, but it did show him to be a by committee guy instead of really creative.

Not really, he's right where he was before with me. This Drake back and forth literally proved nothing that wasn't already said before but it was interesting to follow.

His last album still has zero replay value though so hopefully whatever his next project is will actually make it to my playlist for rotation.

That’s the thing Drake has the skill to rap talent execution and the ability to make songs across multiple genres… Kendrick been in a whole other lane as for as mastering the art of rap… Drake and Kendrick are two totally direct artist

I still view it as "pending" instead of an official placement since he's still putting numbers on the board but yes. The thing a lot of us felt was that Kendrick (and Cole) never had a rap battle, whereas nearly everyone generally considered top 5-10 has. Needless to say we got the answer to that question lol.

Sure.

Respectfully though, he was never high up enough for me to now realize he's surpassed anyone specifically.

Ima say yes :mjlol: I'm still shocked at seeing how much he hated Drake

I thought it was a friendly back and forth through subs over the year

He straight up made Drake out to be an evil doer...a fukking Batman villian

What do y'all mean "he's in the same place"?

So all of you nikkas believed Kendrick:

could take over the charts the way he did with joints that ring off in the club...in a short amount of time?? :patrice:

While at the same time actually having a whole Metal Gear Solid mission on the side with Aubrey's belongings and showed the world bit by bit on the coverart like they were limbs of a loved one? :dahell:
I, did not :hubie: he picked the biggest artist and did him so dirty no one is gonna try him again, only a tiny group of rappers can say they won under pressure like this

Outside of Jay, Nas, Pac, Big, and Scarface….who? Who is clearly ahead of him?!

Rakim and KRS come to mind. Otherwise….???

To me the most important thing is albums. And he has that. He has more classic or near classic albums than some goats have their whole career. And now this monumental moment and 2 classic records dropped in 24 hours

Before I had him around 11ish

Now, 6/7 ish
