Yeah, I think the only crucial viewing from him is Shawshank Redemption, Seven, Dark Knight Trilogy.

Morgan might be the GOAT supporting actor, he doesn't have too many starring vehicles.

EDIT: Forgot about Lean on Me. Still Morgan.
Breh I was wilding

I forgot Morgan was in all them shyts

Will easy :camby:

Seven is definitely never getting a rewatch from me. I already know whats in the box. Movies built entirely around twists and mystery are almost exclusive one off watches. By rewatching the sixth sense even i already know bruce willis is ghost the whole time. nothing enjoyable about second watches with those films.
Certainly would rewatch nutty professor over Seven in 2023 and beyond.

Would you ever say this about The Departed? I use that example because scene to scene it's fun to watch despite knowing what happens to the characters at the end. The writing, the performances, enjoying how it looks aesthetically, appreciating how the story is told is all worth a rewatch because it's just that good, Shyamalan movies are gimmicky, the twist is the only reason to watch them.
Breh this is insane:russ: you wouldn't watch 12 angry men because you already know the verdict?

I'm biased anyway, I don't like anything Eddie has ever done except his stand-up, which doesn't really count.

The departed has plenty to offer beyond plot twists. You really comparing scorsese to m knight shamalan? :mjlol:

I think this question is also based on someone age. I’d say 40 & younger are all booting Morgan
I'm 39 in a month and a half.

Big movie dude beyond my years. Morgan is a great actor; extraordinary actor; who unfortunately has been relegated to second fiddle his whole career.

I thought Fish for a second because he hasn't been relevant in 20 years, but the 90's had so many hits; Matrix, Deep Cover, Boyz, Higher Learning, KONY, What's Love Got to Do With It...M.Fing Othello...nope.

Then I thought Will, because he's mainly popcorn flicks, but he's arguably the greatest popcorn flick actor not named Tom Cruise, then you add in Fresh Prince and his music career. Nope.

Eddie and Denzel are legends. Didn't even have to think about them.

And then there's Sam, who has the highest volume of work. He's just got too many hits. He's the Jay-Z of this shyt. Been around forever and still keeping up with the new jacks. Not the GREATEST in any one statistical category, but he's up there in acting, longevity, relevance, impact, blockbusters...Nope.

It's Morgan. Hate to say it, but he never got the chance to be leading man material. Through no fault of his own. Hollywood when he came up was still racist. And Hollywood now is still ageist...he gets relegated to grandfatherly, wise old man roles. That's not enough to move the needle for me.

You said this about Seven:heh: that's what led me to make the comparison

Twist or no twist, Seven is a solid movie, looks great and not one bad performance.

i mentioned seven and the sixth sense. movies that typically don't hit the same once you know the mystery or riddles they revolve around.
basically the m knight template to film making, seven falls in that category despite him not being involved with it. it uses the same template.
Departed has twists, but its far more of a character study and traditional mafia film

Come on what classics has will Smith starred in that even touches the performance fishburne gave as furious styles or Morgan freeman gave as red? I'm not even going to need to say anything about Denzel Washington. Come on man stop it lmao

Morgan easily, none of yall are watching shawshank or driving miss daisy more than once.

Independence day and men in black i've seen several times and will probably watch again.
Training day, Malcolm X same for denzel.
Sam is in starwars and marvel, i'm still looking forward to upcoming projects from him like secret wars
Same with larry fish, i'm watching the next john wick
Eddie got some all time classics you are definitely dusting off every now and then. trading places, coming to america, nutty professor etc

Nothing in Morgan's resume is really essential or ongoing. Not looking forward to his next Bruce almighty sequal. Loved him in Glory and Lean on me, but i don't see myself rewatching those anytime soon
Nah, Shawshank is legit a goat film that I can watch any time I see it playing.

Outside of that though, yeah he can go.

Will has the weaker filmography sure but he's younger and still has the chance to break out of the cage he's in and truly impress.

So I'm giving Will the benefit of the doubt and hitting the button on Freeman. Go be free somewhere else.

This movie is terrible!:dead:You're crazy, this is one of his worst performances.

Still, the obvious choice is Eddie since he has no classic/important work outside of Coming To America, you lose too much with the other actors.

:gucci:

So, Beverly Hills Cop, Harlem Nights, 48 Hours, Trading Places, Boomerang, Delirious, and Raw, aren't classic or important?

Morgan freeman

Sure he has more classics than will Smith but I've watched Will Smiths movies multiple times
So the net joy and entertainment brought into my life is lowest with Morgan freeman since I've watch most of his movies only once
