Don't underestimate Hov's relevancy. Hov was already established and had accomplished so much in selling platinum albums and hit singles before Kanye emerge as a star. Kanye added some flavors in Hov's music but he didn't carry Jay and that goes the same for Beyonce.

Exactly!

That's how you know these cats saying otherwise are either young and don't know any better, or just plain dumb. Dude was a megastar before Kanye was even thought of. Now all of a sudden Kanye is responsible for his continued success when he isn't even as successful as dude nowadays.

I think it's a 2 way thing but. Without Jigga there would def be no Kanye. If Kanye didn't exist Hov would still be the biggest rapper in the industry...just rapping on more Just Blaze beats :sas2:

SINY!!
Without Kanye, The first Blueprint might not even exist as we know it. Definitely might have sounded a lot differently. The Blueprint is how Kanye broke out. Without those placements, he would probably still be ghost-producing/getting minimal credits for D-Dot

hov cared about art and fashion only really after kanye did
T
Hov been rapping about art in bars here and there since reasonable doubt, and you're a straight crackhead if you're trying to say Hov had no interest in fashion before he met Kanye, considering he did things like............. start a clothing line and rap about clothes on every single album he's ever done.

I flow too many ways, got a arch in my flow
All sorts of flow, Rembrandt, Rilke
I am art with the flow
Even if I'm guilty, you gotta pardon the flow

This thread is stupid. Both are stars in their own right.

Kanye didn't follow Jay's blueprint (no pun), his music speaks for itself. But, his Rocafella affiliation did help him get established though.

And yeah Jay has benefited by being affiliated with the megastar that Kanye became, but Jay been doing his thing for years, and if not Kanye he would have found another dikk to ride for attention. he been doing it his whole career, long before Kanye.

Neither is entirely responsible for the others success but they both have benefited from being affiliated with each other

Ghetto Techno was definitely intended for BP3 and Complex confirmed it a while ago. Either way, Timbaland had friction with Kanye at the time and wanted to do the whole album. Luckily Jay sided with Kanye and kept Timbo from ruining BP3 any further.

Complex is wrong. Timbaland leaked "Ghetto Techno" himself on a Ustream and even stated that he "kept the best for himself" in regard to that song. Tim had no friction with Kanye, but had friction with Jay Z. The whole debacle with Tim's songs leaking were a result of that. Jay didn't keep Timbo from ruining BP3.

Blueprint 3 still ranks as one of Jay's worst albums even with Kanye producing the bulk of it. I mean, Kanye gave Jay a couple of duds on that album as well. A lot of Jay fans don't like "Hate" or "Young Forever".
