People always talking about the South is so bad. I need to know where they live cause I lived in the South my entire life, from Kentucky to Florida to Texas and back to Georgia.
Idk what they mean by the south is the worst place for blacks. I encountered more shyt when I lived in Colorado.
well here's what they mean. and you are right when you talk about direct treatment from white to black.
most blacks that havent left the comfort of their coastal cities to visit the south dont know whats what. they HEARD white folks be bothering black folks down there.
they heard stories about blacks passing thru hick towns and not being allowed to eat in 1990, 2000's. so they figured well da... if thats how it is. nothing has changed.
what they dont realize is that their are so many black people in those southern cities. its black vs black. rather then black vs other. in cali, we no nothing about dat life of having millions upon millions of black folks all over the place. we have pockets. but thats about it. so we assume incorrectly.
now what i do know, cause i've visited the south throughout life a few times. is this. the south still isnt great for a brotha. unless you're NC doing well for yourself. other areas are a bit shakey.
the truth is, most of us are beyond broke in the south. so thats one red flag. why is that? there are no where near the plethora of jobs in the south that their are in alot of these big coastal cities. now texas is stealing companies left and right. but thats cause they have no love for the employee when it comes to their laws. so of course companies will move there so they can pay employees lower wages, less benefits, and treat them like whatever. you cant do that here in cali. nor in NY, and a few other places like those.
now the truth is, every place where a lot of black folks reside. there has to be an upper crust group of black folks thriving. BUT in the coastal cities you see a lot of random blacks doing ok for themselves. vs seeing a bunch of blacks on struggling and nothing more.
last thing though. if something ever pops off and you end up caught up in something that involves the law. if you're in the south and your a black man. odds are you have almost no chance. at least in the coastal spots you have a shot. not a great one. but a shot is better then no shot.
