I don't like J Cole, I think he's the most average rapper to be that popular in recent years.

Kendrick tho, I don't think you can objectively listen to section .80, Overly Dedicated and GKMC and not find these albums good. GKMC's story telling has been praised over and over and for very good reasons, shyt is a musical biography of kendrick's life, with very high quality of music.

There's a very big difference between Drake and Kendrick, Kendrick's singles don't stand out, unlike Drake's, but Drake can't make an actual album for shyt, all his albums are a compilation of singles, of very varying quality.
Kendrick's albums tho, dude has not missed yet, and the quality of each song is amplified by the global message and rhythm of the album they're a part of.

Kendrick's an artist, Drake's a pop-star.

This ghostwriting fiasco probably had a lot of rappers who write their own shyt looking around like, fukk this shyt. And strapping themselves up with ghostwriters of their own. Lord knows I would.

fukk that extensive recording and studio time budget, put that towards the writers. If thats the way game is gonna be played now, why not?

But its this type of thinking that dilutes the genre... which is why.... people who expected some backlash about it were going so hard cause now... everything is fair game... even lyricists who spend hours crafting their bars probably like... fukk this shyt.

Am I listening to Drake at home? Almost never. In fact, until 0-100 and 10 Bands came out, I never listened to Drake at home. I had zero inclination to play his stuff.

But now, I might be cleaning around the house and in between my regular Nas, Mobb, Wu, ASAP Rocky shyt, I might play one of those two Drake tracks.

Non-Drake fans like myself think 10 Bands and 0-100 are dope songs. Huge difference.

They are dope songs and i actually think the first 7 songs on IYRTITL were great but 10 bands and 0 to 100 is not better than everything k dot and cole has made. They dont have the same audience. Sound to me like you have a bit of hate in your heart.

Drake does write though the idea he has never written is dumb shyt...

Prior to Drake's stylistic shift in 2015 they were the same content wise a lot of girl songs and brag records. Cole was just always more conscious. Drake and Cole fanbase is damn near the same. Drake get loud ass reception at Cole shows when he shows up.

I disagree with OP. Those aren't top tier Drake records in my opinion. Kendrick and Cole have a lot of great shyt themselves.

Nah Drake overlaps with them in the fact that he raps on traditional hiphop beats aswell but the lanes are different. Drake best music is the club/outside the house music. Thats why I say he is in that future. young thug lane. Outgoing music.

Drake dope but I dunno if he is making better stuff than future or young thug this year. Theres a certain level of ignorance he cant reach when it comes to them two lol
