Online gaming was trash on consoles before Microsoft. People willingly paid because the service was worth it. The money they made let them invest in the cloud to further improve online experiences. Sony and Nintendo HAD to charge in order to improve their services and offer the features people wanted.online gaming was free before microsoft too. And dlc(expainsion packs back in the day) say for instace star craft brood war was worth it.
That has nothing to do with MicrosoftIn the 360 era you were paying 15$ for 4 maps in cod lmao![]()

when xbox live came out they didnt use that money to provide dedicated servers for unreal championship , halo2 , rainbow 6... they definitly didnt need xbox profits for cloud services.. anyone in the IT field would tell you that. And as far as sony and nintendo changing it was sony who promised free games every month with ps plus for ps3 first.

when they tried to charge them for the service. Instead you just accepted it as a cost that really didnt benefit you or gamers in general only microsoft.. and soon other developers realized they could get away charging away dlc one modder could make in a day for 15-20$
