Hate to say it but that Jodeci album last year literally came and went

naw, r&b is damn near non existent and 2 other things is this

1. jodeci waited waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to long to drop an album and been lost most of their audiences' interest. the og comeback was suppose to be in 01'
2. they came back with an album that won't hittin' at all. i like 2 of the songs on there, "sho out" and "incredible" (i like "every moment" too for the most part) but the album really ain't all that at all. a huge letdown. nowhere up to jodeci's standard and heyday. and when you think about it, it's sad to even hold this album up to standard of today's music even much of today's r&b ain't all that or shyt to begin with

but then again, these brothers been so far gone so damn long it would've taken miracle and motivation and determination from them to actually make this project work and i just think they so far gone from the music that it was only wishful thinkin' from the start for this project

jodeci left the buildin' in 95' and never returned

Technically K-Ci & JoJo gave us the next 2 Jodeci albums in Love Always & X cause that's where their sound was headed anyway

I always thought they had a different sound then the entire jodeci group although they provided all the vocals not sure why that is maybe devantes production

I love jodeci but I cant take them serious no since they no longer sound good live they use to have a studio quality sound live in the 90s.

I wanted to believe that but I saw them last year and man their road band is fukkin insane..Only thing that sticks out is that K Ci had to hold down JoJo 'cause his voice is gone ...But the guys somehow someway form like Voltron and tear it down

The only big change was that K & J was doin more straight forward R&B than hip-hop by then, but that church vibe and the harmonies didn't go anywhere and that was always Jodeci's trademark ..You think Devante & Dalvin woulda brought that Bassment sound to the crib but Tim & Missy already transformed it double time by then

i don't know, it's hard to say since it just ended with them as a group in 95'. i really don't know

Pretty much, that album was clearly a cash grab.

If they would have put out a decent album it wouldn't have topped the charts or anything, but it definitely would have done well in the Adult R&B market.

Because essentially every group and artist just copied their formula and with the help of record execs pushing for a monolithic sound and milquetoast image to boot R&B went from Rhythm & Blues to literally songs about love, sex, heartbreak rinse and repeat .

See groups like 112, B2K, Pretty Ricky, Blackstreet, Immature, Mindless Behavior and B5 for an example.

And hell depending on which curmudgeon you ask they'll even say Jodeci is just a watered down Toni Toni Tone.

For the record I'm coming in with a bias because their music just bores me, but I can't ever take them dudes talent away because they can sing their assess off, should've reworded my op.
