My boy is in Berlin right now and he couldn't believe the cost of renting flats out there. So I checked it out myself and was amazed. E.g the following flat was listed on Craigslist:

Come to find out they have rent control:


Berlin has become the first city in Germany in which rent-control legislation has come into force in a bid to put the brakes on some of the fastest rising rents in Europe. From Monday, landlords in the capital will be barred from increasing rentsby more than 10% above the local average.

Wages aren't keeping up with production in Germany too breh if you look at the last 20 years

But the Germans have a much more competent governance...

Soon as they found out your black or asian, they flake out on you.

I don't know about the rest of the UK, but London rent is a fukking joke fam!

I'm cool cause I'm a homeowner but I believe in wealth through property ownership/development and I try to stay clued up on the rental market; some of the areas, I see these rents and assuming average wages, I can't see how people can have any money left to save toward home ownership after rent, food and bills comes out.

Price caps is what it's gonna have to come to on a large scale here in the states. Property owners are greedy. Gotta come to an eventual head. Raising the minimum wage a million times isn't a solution if the people you depend on for housing and food will just charge you more.

Affordable housing the way it's currently done is economically unsustainable in NYC

there are a few affordable housing buildings near me full of transplant cacs that make me sick
