Have you ever been followed in a store? Shopping while black

For me, the associate is either aloof, ignores me completely or they’re breathing down my neck...asking repeatedly if I need help (never an in between) And don’t even dare walking down a deserted aisle, cause they’ll find their way there too. It’s to the point where I get anxiety before entering a store, I don’t like feeling like that.

Yes, one time it was an old Indian man was standing over me watching me, as I was about to leave he said Get Out! Get Out! I didn't though, I stayed in the store extra long to piss him off didn't say anything when I left for good, still ruined my day though

Not that I recall... but they ask if they help me I tell them what im looking for and let them fetch it for me... Whole part of the game is playing stupid when you know your being followed... I do notice when I'm in target I can usually point out undercover security they are not slick..

Haven’t actually happen to me yet but I remember one time this is Indian 7-11 clerk was looking at me with disgust the whole time I was in the store. I left after a few mins without buying shyt.

Yep. If it's a clothes store if i see them doing the fake folding of clothes, i'll go over and pick up shyt like i'm checking the size then throw the shirt back up on the pile to make them refold it. Or i'll walk over to whatever they are standing by and be like "excuse me" and make them move and i'll just pick up something and act like i'm shopping for it. Just all up in their space letting them know i know.

Never in a big retailer like Target and Walmart to my knowledge or didn't notice but definitely at small stores. Unfortunately it's the reality for being black in America.

When I lived in the south the craziest part were the fake shoppers some how trying to be in the sections I was in

It never made me feel good but when it was a black person doing it to me I felt bad for them imagine being paid to follow people around you probably feel like a slave a useless slave in this retail industrial complex

I've had some pretty bad situations so sometimes Im on edge

Once I did that in JC Penney. I was being followed, then I let out a quiet one. 20 seconds later, the white broad was like "OH MY FREAKING GOD!!!!!" and ran away.
