It was a joke!
Read the Quran.

Read the Hadith.

Islam is dangerous.
This, this, this

At best (arabist/Sunni) Islam is high functioning autism, at its' worst...well just look at any Muslim country that isn't Indonesia and/or in West Africa

Not gonna get too into it, but I was Muslim for quite some time, I remember listening to tasfir lectures about random topics often, some I agreed with, some I ignored

For the hell of it, I decided to watch a Zakir Naik lecture on wet dreams (:mjlol:), all the comments were sandcacs saying shyt like, "alhamduillah, I thought my semen would nuillify my fast" one guy even wanted help after having wet dreams about his own mother :scust:

And I remember reading shyt like that all the time, no :mjpls: but (arab) Islam is totally alien and backwards, especially if you're a breh

i agree with everything that white man says

:mjpls:
Have you read and watched everything he has said? Our opinions can greatly differ depending on what we have encountered. I only watched early Sam Harris because the topics were interesting, but I never really cared for the individual. But as a principle that I have held since I was teen, I will never idolize another human being, at all. I only take into account the ideas so they can't be held to scrutiny with little bias pushing me one way or another. So it's nothing for me to just completely drop an individual, whether relative, friend, president, notable figure, etc. All humans are capable of error, contradiction, stupidity, and hypocrisy. Is that something you would agree with or do you ever find yourself almost idolizing figures at times? If you do agree with my perspective, I would recommend just going through r/philosophy, searching Sam Harris, and you will see the glaring issues with some of his takes, and when it comes to just philosophy alone, he is more of a "pop philosophist" than anything else. Not saying you have to always conform to academic, but when using academic terms, you have to use them correctly.

And even something as simple as @Dafunkdoc_Unlimited signature quoting Sam Harris, which of course could be "out of context", but if we were to just take that argument and deal with it in a vacuum, it could easily be reduced to absurdity on multiple fronts. Such as who decides which ideas are dangerous? Is death the only option, maybe education is a possibility? How do we define danger and towards who is it being distributed towards? By that logic the Taliban can deem you dangerous and would be "justified" an "ethical" in their elimination of apostates. I can go on and on but that comment is absurd on its own. I guess I will have to read "End of Faith" one day, if I remember correctly, I think he used that book to fund his PhD, so it could be outdated regarding his perspective on things, I'm aware of his other releases just never cared for reading them.

Used to be "pro-Black", these days I'm just worried about myself, my family and the people around me, who are all Black so :yeshrug:

Used to be a "leftist", I'm all for unions, paying service industry workers fair wages, etc. but I can't beat myself up and feel guilty about making money

Really just learning how to focus on things I can actually change in real life
Yeah the George Floyd riots really showed me the true face of these so called "pro black".

I still consider myself liberal, but yeah a man has to make a living :yeshrug:

i didn't read ur entire post outside of the first 3 sentences (lazy today) and yes, I've listened to years of his stuff since 2005 (podcast, lectures, debates, documentaries) and can honestly say I don't really recall disagreeing with him on anything.

I'm trying to think of just 1 thing but i can't

breh is usually spot on and sincere

no matter how controversial

I can find more things I disagree with that came out of Hitchens mouth than I can from Ben Stillers twin

:manny:

edit:

actually i did find 1 thing

I disagree with him putting his podcast behind a paywall, that sh1t was gay

Why do you like shytting on atheists? :mjlol: I shyt on atheists because I think most are lazy and are essentially dunking on low hanging fruit but I'm also a contrarian a times, to be fair. I'm just wondering where you stand on it, if you can answer briefly on the matter. I definitely support atheist movements politically speaking, but in the philosophical realm I think a lot of atheists don't put in any work beyond the basics and it hurts their positions at times, I think they are separated from the philosophical roots of the position.

Should also note, I support programs like the "Atheist Experience" existing as a manner of stimulating thought and they even do political work, even though I don't agree with them on a formal basis, and hate that they had drama and a lot of good members left.
