Have you read and watched everything he has said? Our opinions can greatly differ depending on what we have encountered. I only watched early Sam Harris because the topics were interesting, but I never really cared for the individual. But as a principle that I have held since I was teen, I will never idolize another human being, at all. I only take into account the ideas so they can't be held to scrutiny with little bias pushing me one way or another. So it's nothing for me to just completely drop an individual, whether relative, friend, president, notable figure, etc. All humans are capable of error, contradiction, stupidity, and hypocrisy. Is that something you would agree with or do you ever find yourself almost idolizing figures at times? If you do agree with my perspective, I would recommend just going through r/philosophy, searching Sam Harris, and you will see the glaring issues with some of his takes, and when it comes to just philosophy alone, he is more of a "pop philosophist" than anything else. Not saying you have to always conform to academic, but when using academic terms, you have to use them correctly.
And even something as simple as
@Dafunkdoc_Unlimited signature quoting Sam Harris, which of course could be "out of context", but if we were to just take that argument and deal with it in a vacuum, it could easily be reduced to absurdity on multiple fronts. Such as who decides which ideas are dangerous? Is death the only option, maybe education is a possibility? How do we define danger and towards who is it being distributed towards? By that logic the Taliban can deem you dangerous and would be "justified" an "ethical" in their elimination of apostates. I can go on and on but that comment is absurd on its own. I guess I will have to read "End of Faith" one day, if I remember correctly, I think he used that book to fund his PhD, so it could be outdated regarding his perspective on things, I'm aware of his other releases just never cared for reading them.
