I listened to the whole episode yesterday. Short clips makes it lose context. He was just making an argument that if Biggie and Pac are still
Top 5 and haven’t released new songs for over 23 years that a testament to Hip Hop not being that great of a space as people say it is. I don’t agree with his argument but hey. I do know Doggie has said before he thinks Ready to Die sounds very dated and that’s a lot of people’s sentiment and I disagree but I also understand where they’re coming from.

For those asking who Doggie Diamonds is, Doggie was actually friends with Biggie and Biggie recorded a lot of records in his crib. So did the rest of Junior Mafia. They grew up together and are from the same hood. Doggie been around since the early 90s with the group the Lil b*stards. Did production, toured with Mighty RSO and Freddie Foxxx back in 1992. And plus did mad legendary interviews. His credibility is solidified.

and he said Cole and Kendrick aren’t superstars because of how they present themselves. I understood what he meant but this era, that shyt don’t matter. Kids don’t care about you looking like a super hero.

I'm of the biggie/ 2pac era and neither one were my favorite then but they were two of the most popular
This is what a Texas teenager in the 1990s hip hop list looks like:
1. Scarface
2. Ice Cube
3. Snoop
4.Pimp C/BunB
5. Some obscure Bay Area rapper

That's the problem with the internet in general, regarding blogging and shyt. Before the internet you really had to have talent, at least to some degree, at what you're doing to get noticed and get a platform. But now literally everyone and anyone can have a platform if they interview enough famous people or say enough wild shyt to get attention. Being educated on what you're speaking on literally means nothing, lol

Been saying it for a minute, but the internet made the average mediocre Joe's opinion gospel with just a click, had this been pre 2004 their opinions would be limited to a forum or a small newspaper journal if they could afford it.

His reasoning is enough to invalidate his credibility

Tupac is the greatest of all-time, it’s quantifiable.

Biggie is standout talent that we lost too soon. Didn’t have the chance to create a catalog that would put him in that discussion

That person doesn’t know what they’re talking about

Biggie gets more play today than Pac. Wth you mean don’t have the catalog lmao

Maybe in NY or something but I can't rock with that. Matter of fact I heard I get around and dear Mama today alone. I did hear Biggie a few days ago on DJ Premier's show on XM

you have no statistic to back that up because it's not true. Tupac's catalog exceeds Biggie's my an uncomparable margin, it's not even close
Pac is the one whos "subjectively better"

He had that soul. Dude could move you emotionally.

Biggie was a better rapper hands down.No one had that combination of flow lyrics and mic presence.

No, style is subjective. Catalog is not, Tupac's catalog is quantifiably better and of more value. Biggie's publishing does not share the same value as Tupac's, this is a simple fact

Tupac's catalog transcends the genre and at just 25 years old he left behind a catalog that rivals that of The Beatles. It's not even close or debatable, anyone who knows the business knows that I'm only speaking affirmative facts.Hip-Hop could die and Tupac's work would live on

This is simply publishing business 101

Yeah well like it or not the South been running hip hop for going on damn near 20 yrs ....but you got it

Replace running with ruining and i agree. Saying u run rap (not hiphop) after the 90s isnt something to brag about since its 90% trash :manny:
