In grad school I've learned that education is the biggest indicator of health and social well-being. Staying in school would have brought so much good to your cousin's life: longevity, freedom, economic stability, etc. Your cousin has given up his entire future, just to get a nut. That's really, really sad.

Also, I disagree. I have a kid and went from driving buses to go to school to making 11 dollars an hour in entry IT to making 45k a year at a level 2 position...all within the span of one year..and I haven't even finished my degree yet..
So it's possible, but I'll agree with the notion that the more you have the harder it gets. Kinda kills me when I see these females have 4 and 5 kids then wanna talk about "getting they life together"..damn near too late then
