This is what I've heard from students that go to hbcu's I live in va and we have several here

Virginia union
Hampton university
Norfolk state
Virginia state

It's no mystery that some places look down on hbcu's. Of course they can't straight out say hey u went to an hbcu we don't want u here.

Ain't nobody saying that u can't get a great job with it but places are starting to shyt on hbcu students.

This is not true. I know a chick who goes to an HBCU w/o an accredited engineering program who still managed to get a decent engineering gig. I know another guy who went to Howard who isn't even a citizen and Microsoft was bending over backwards to try and find some position for him.

This is true. I got a bro that graduated from Yale who's currently unemployed.
No one said u couldn't get a great job when going to an hbcu. I said that places are starting to give the side eye to hbcu students. I've heard this from several hbcu grads as well as ones that aren't u guys take one point and don't pay attention to another.

HBCUs graduate a large percent of STEM majors and they find jobs because that's where the black STEM grads are. Blacks at PWIs, especially the elite schools, tend to struggle with the competition and some either drop out of school or change their major.

Black immigrants and their children do better academically than historical African-Americans. Additionally, the guy from Howard would need a H1B visa to work at Microsoft if he is not a permanent resident. The H1B visa allows companies to pay a lower wage and makes it difficult for the employee to change jobs for a better position.

:ehh: This makes sense. I goto a PWI and yes there were very few african-americans in my major [MechE] as well as other engineering disciplines. Most of the black ppl were immigrants

This..Even though those schools are way more expensive than going to a big state school most times. My younger sis bypassed Spelman for UGA because of cost.

Although I only attended elite PWIs, I completely support HBCUs. Just like there are good and bad PWIs, there are good and bad HBCUs.

Most of the black graduate students at my former school graduated from HBCUs. In fact, they produce the most black undergrads who eventually go on to earn PhDs.

I would have been happy to attend Spelman, but they never sent my financial aid package (yes that part was shade).
