I'm a millenial and I don't think none of the names up there are my GOAT. For me, the greatest I saw would be between Ronaldo de Lima of Brazil and Ronaldinho. They never had the longevity of Ronaldo/Messi but they had the greatest peaks of my era.

I also liked the Suriname Dutch players - Edgar Davids and Clarence Seedorf.

sure, but i mean generally speaking

I feel bad for messi

Not even the GOAT midget Argentinan

Because of this man

The way he dragged Argentina in 1986 :wow:
Nah messi is a better scorer, play maker, dribbler and a passer and been low-key carrying both barca and Argentina over the last couple of years.

Messi also had a better peak like scoring 91 goals in 69 games:wow:

Those were the fun years of football. Cameroon shocked the world. Beat Argentina and also beat England in the quarters but were denied by the referee.

Do you remember Valderrama of Colombia? Great underrated player. Legends have it that he never misplaced a pass on the pitch. Too bad Escobar had to be killed in Colombia for an own goal. That was the story that made the Colombian cartel become infamous across the globe.:francis:

Italia 90, USA 94 and France 98 would've to be the top 3 World Cups to me. But if I'm asked to do a Mt Rushmore, I would include Japan/Korea 2002 due to how Senegal shocked the world.

Schillaci, Roger Milla, Gascoigne and Maradona were the stars of Italia 90. Germany won it all as a team with Moller, Klinsman and Matthaus as the standout stars.

Hagi, Bebeto, Romario, Dahlin, Stoichkov and Baggio were the stars of USA 94.

France 98 had Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, Denilson, Maldini, Zidane, Thuram, Valdez, Raul Gonzalez, Owen, Suker, and the Dutch boys (Bergkamp, Overmars, De Boer bros, Seedorf and Edgar Davids).

The Sengalese boys were the stars of Japan/Korea 2002.

Since then the football world cup hasn't been the same. The fun and excitement isn't what it used to be.

nah 06 is definitely up there as the top 10 post 1970 world cups

zidane's headbutt
portugal v netherlands battle of nurnberg
messi & cristiano ronaldo's world cup debut
trinidad & tobago world cup debut
cristiano ronaldo knocking england out on penalties
graham poll's 3 yellow cards
brazil v france being the most star studded word cup game ever
grossos last minute winner against germany

06 is for sure up there

saw this a few weeks ago in the cinema. I guess it plays better on TV because there‘s only so much grainy vhs footage you can take.

Maradona really is the all time goat in regards to off field fukkery though. some incredible stories in this doc.

I didn‘t know that they held the Argentina Italy semi final in Napoli until this doc :ooh:

Soccer was my introduction to sports and Maradona was a God to me as a child

Ive never been a hardcore soccer fan, I don't follow leagues etc. But I'm still a big world cup guy and Argentina is still my team to this day and always will be

I've honestly lost count how many farewells and tributes Diego has gotten in Argentina after he retired in 97'. But it's been a lot.

So...after going full fukkery by going to Sinaloa to become manager, he bloated up again and went back to looking in real bad shape. But Diego gotta Diego, so he's basically convinced to take the Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata manager gig. And of course, it's been a cotdamn circus :russ:

1) Gimnasia is fighting relegation and has a horrible team. It would take a miracle for them to keep their spot. This Diego hiring screams money grab so they can get a some sellouts for home games and sell a bunch of shirts and all types of merchs.

2) Other teams are taking advantage of Maradona's "return" and are giving him tributes. This is what Talleres de Córdoba pulled off for dude.

3) Diego has promised a bunch of shyt and of course hasn't done much. The most hilarious one was that he bowed to never miss 1 training session and to be hands on...and on the first week he missed a couple of days. He's looking like 2000 Maradona so wouldn't be shocking if he ends up in the Hospital again. Most people expect him to step down sooner rather than later.

This motherfukker creates fukkery like no one else. Even Tyson stopped with the bullshyt but Diego gonna  to his grave :wow:
