Thanks for the thread!
Crazy he performed at such a high level gone off that white
I need to watch this but reading that this takes place in Napoli, watching Gomorrah the Camorra are not to be fukked with.
Knocked some dude out cold too. He was wit da shyts...
Imagine the shyt that probably exists on video held by some Napoli underworld locked in vaults.........shyt must be level 10 demonic
How did Diego NOT know shyt would get ugly once he told Neapolitans to root for the Argies against Italy? He really thought he had it like that.
song at the beginning of the doc
classic 80's coke music
Great doc..but because I’m a big football fan, I already knew most of his story
scumbags turning on him because he won a World Cup game for his country, tho
after all the shyt he did for Napoli
He’s the best player of all time
Just goes to show, he was never really one of them (Italian), no matter how much glory he brought to that city. He just made them (Napoli) relevant and somewhat respected. When convenient, they all turned on him. He had already been burning bridges all around Napoli by that time as well. After that Argentina-Italy game and him trying to turn Napoli fans into rooting for Argentina over Italy, yeah, he lost the media support (silence on his over-the-top partying), police support (burying his activities), legal support (failure to pay taxes), club support (stopped covering for him), and worst of all for him at that time, Camorra support (everything).
I think he knew that he should have left after that 1st Serie A title, but the Napolo president was never going to sell him, and as goes in sports, were more than willing accomplices in his downfall. They had no interest in his well-being or state of mind, so long as he could perform on Sundays, which he did. The president even knew about the drugs and the loose drug testing protocols, where Maradona was passing the testing probably because someone else's piss was being used. I don't know the entire story, but I would venture to guess that the Camorra had the club president under their control too, which is how they were probably able to sign Maradona in the first place.
literally every single possible thing you can imagine is under the thumb of the Camorra...down to the milk in stores, the alternative energy, the cement, the hospitals, the clothing, the distribution of paychecks, who marries who, everything.
It’s different than a typical mafia it’s more of an invisible aura that has infiltrated every segment of life in Campania.
I cannot recommend the movie, series and book “Gomorrah” enough. Each is absolutely mind blowing.
The scenes in Argentina & Naples after winning the World Cup and Scudetto were insane.
Maradona might have reached peak human being in '86/'87. What a life.
Just finished that..Don't know too much about Soccer but Diego was the GOAT..Did the interview with the mink coat on
Those scenes were crazy
