I found very few able to admit this in the late 80's and after the 90's, well after they both retired. I practically got called a tom during this time just for saying I always liked Frazier...since he was the very first champion I vividly remember, a time when Ali was just being allowed to box again.I forgot about that
But Ali wasn't a saint either the way he c00ned it up for his fights vs Joe Frazier after that man helped him out so much.

I saw the longer version of this interview on another thread. Tommy actually bucked on Mike too. He told him, "I ain't afraid of you Mike". I'm not sure if he said that before he had words with Ray or after, but I think Tommy's still a little punch drunk from his fights with him. I don't think he ever got over those fights. I always liked Ray's personality outside the ring...it runs in our family, which is a very humble family. But unfortunately, he has that personality that makes some fighters or wannabe fighters, want to challenge him. Then they get surprised.
