Man, some of that is bad, but it's budget, and Dante Spinotti, and the music too. The script is still solid, and so is the direction, but Mann was surely more steady behind the camera 5 years later.

I don't really lump Heat with those mafia movies. When I say crime dramas I'm talking Usual Suspects, Chinatown, Seven, LA Confidential, Resevoir Dogs,Training Day, The Town, shyt like that.
