This seems like authoritarian power consolidation masquerading as bureaucratic reform and national security strategy. When you start firing generals and ordering a 20% cut to four-star officers, it starts looking like a purge of anyone who isn't ideologically aligned with your goals. Gutting the chain of command and concentrating military decision-making in fewer hands is dangerous, especially when they're hand-picked.

These dudes are there for their experience, leadership, and big picture decision making.

You not supposed to see them everyday. If you do it’s probably not a good thing.


Hegseth is a clown who was a reservist and a low ranking officer. They are doing this to cut into current leadership and probably replace them with loyalists later on.

So I went down this page and counted every 4-star officer that has some melanin in their portrait. I counted 7. There is currently a total of 38 4-star officers serving

7/38 = 18.4%
