For me at least it is perfect. On an average day i would have times in the day (30-90 min) where i had nothing to do for whatever reason. When i had nothing for the first or second half of the day i still had to come in and stay. Had to still be in the office, especially in my area, because if i was not at my cubicle for a certain amount of time i was liable to get pinged to see where i was. Never was a big issue until some teams abused it and had upper management walk through to a mostly empty section of the office.

Now i can wake up later because of no commute, go where i need to during the day because of Teams on my phone, stop working at certain parts of the day, etc... I have the same amount of productivity if not more because even if i am not always working i can work when i want, so i might not do something at 9 am-12 pm but i will do it much later when i am watching something. That is not even including being able to work from anywhere. I now since 2021 go back home to CA from November to mid January for the holidays since i can work remote, could never do that before.

fukk anyone that is against remote work. Even a hybrid work schedule is infinitely better than on site working. Never going back to that type of life if i can.

What is the fixation on fukking indians? I said nationwide and globally. There are more than just indians out there.

A dude from cali can just as easily take your job as a dude from NYC since if it is fully remote.

Globally where?? First world countries have their own accountants and you wouldn't save much money hiring someone from Germany, France, etc. 2nd and 3rd world aren't good enough. And why would an American corporation want sensitive accountant information available to foreigners?

And your 2nd point I already mentioned that. But going to the office still is an old archaic system.

There is residual economic benefits to people going to work. Offices get leased, lunch is bought, transportation is used and office supplies are purchased. People working from home decreases all that.

100% facts. Any person who thought Remote Work for the will last forever (outside of a couple positions) was living in a fairy tale land

But feds were onsite a few times a week. The notion that majority of feds were remote is a lie. Yes some agencies never lifted their max telework allowance after covid, but most did and put people on 40%-50% status. Unless people have reasonable accommodations, most were hybrid before and after covid

The "get back to work" "go back to the office" talk is hilarious because that applies to like 10% of feds
The announcement that was on Whitehouse.gov on Monday said only 6% of federal employees worked in the office. They'll continue to push the lie.

I prefer remote work, but y'all gotta stop acting like it's perfect.

The communication, the collaboration, the onboarding, the networking, the brainstorming, the mentoring is all worse.

Just them awkward Zoom pauses and lack of body language kills people wanting to interact. And them digital white boards are not the same.

The earlier we can recognize the downsides the earlier we can fix em.

(And I'm not gonna even get into the "if your job can be remote then they can outsource you" convo)

Feds are gonna increase co-location iniatives. That crap doesn't work. Why are you gonna sell buildings when you already don't have enough office space?
:snoop:

The Federal RTO Crackdown Prompts a Scramble for Office Space

The General Services Administration must find workspaces for 2.3 million civil servants ordered back to offices full time—while also carrying out Trump’s pending order to sell off two-thirds of the buildings it manages.

I think a hybrid is best. I go into the office twice a week. And it allows for better collaboration and fellowship in the organization.
But yeah, I think there is little to no reason for 5 days of in office.

Turn the offices into apartments and actual apartments and not "luxury" apartments and you will get a lot of that economic benefit back. Making people spend money on commuting and overpriced lunch when they do not have to takes away economic benefits of the people.

fukk the owners of the office spaces, i am not about to cry because no one is renting their space.

Doesn't matter, just a pure numbers argument. Instead of competing with every accountant in a 100 mile radius for that accounting job. Now you are competing with every accountant nationwide and potentially globally for that job.
There's truth to this and they'll pay them a fraction of what they'll pay you.

My office has been hybrid since 2022 and I prefer it too, but as someone that had to hire 4 people in 2020, shyt was rough getting them going because while a lot of what we do can be done at home, not all of it can, and that's really once you've been in it for a minute. Trying to get kids fresh out of school trained up and integrated into the group when everyone else was at home was hard for me but especially them. It really depends on what field you're in tho.
