HELP needed From those that play FINAL FANTASY 7 on PC [not the steam version]

so i upgraded to windows 10, it stopped my final fantasy 7 from working. can i copy the save files to my windows 8 desktop and resume where i left off? i tried to find the save files, but when i go to the folder that says 'saves' its empty.
