For one most slaves couldn't read supposedly,so how can you sit here and pretend like they read the bible and thats what made them not all able to fight back? You can provide scriptures that sound conflicting because they are taken out of context. How many societies have been destroyed in the old testament because they refused to repent? The new Testament is little different.

In the situation where Jesus forgave the adulterous woman who was about to be stoned, he didn't say, "Keep on living the way you're living and you'll be fine." He said, "Do not do this again unless you want something WORSE to happen to you."

In regards to your point about the Bible advocating following the government, that is also wrong. John the Baptist was beheaded because he pointed out the foulness going on with the King and his brother's wife. Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego were thrown into the furnace because they wouldn't bow down and worship the king. I can go on and on with examples and if Christianity was such an accommodating religion, it wouldn't be banned from communist countries such as China or Islamic countries, because they would just go along with the government right?

We should be believing in ourselves, as being extensions of The One Source. Meaning no one is going to punish or save us except ourselves. We create heaven and hell.

The question is why Jesus would let most people wonder about the meaning of His parables. The first instance of this is in His telling the parable of the seed and the soils. Before He interpreted this parable, He drew His disciples away from the crowd. They said to Him, "Why do You speak to them in parables?" Jesus answered them, "To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. In their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says,
