He's not perfect, but where does Tariq Nasheed stand with you as a black voice in the media?

Dudes are really proving my point in here.

Where is Al Sharptons documentary? Where is Jesse's? Where is Marc Lamont Hills? Where is Melissa Harris Perry's? Where is Boyce Wakins? Where is Corny :troll: Wests?

Tariq is out here CROWDFUNDING (essentially engaging people) in the promotion of their content and information.

Of course it could be done better, but no one else is doing it.

All of these people have their own lanes. What is the point of trying to diminish their contributions to society and to knowledge building in the black community just because they aren't doing things the Tariq way?

It's like they're shytting on tariq because he doesn't have letters after his name and isn't in the church like that.

I'm peeping some of this criticism yet tariq is clearly the most active dude on the current black progress movement.

All of his peers ain't doing shyt but pontificate and lecture ad nasuem coming up with random theories without offering solutions.

I bet he threatens them.

Can you provide me with links, videos of MHP, Cornell Watkins, Al Sharpton, and all the other people you named attacking Tariq?

It's funny that you get mad if someone critiques your fave, but you're essentially diminishing everything that everyone else has done to spread knowledge in the black community. So he's the only person "doing shyt" for blacks? Seriously?

If they aren't doing what Tariq is doing, then they aren't "doing shyt"? Gotcha!

I disagree with his hidden color movies because they contain a ton of afrocentric pseudo science and half-truths but I support the rest of his work. Francis Crest Wellsing is a crackpot but a lot of his social commentary and dating tips are pretty legit. :yeshrug:

I am especially thankful that we have a black person who isn't a complete social retard telling us this stuff. A lot of afrocentric people I know tend to be socially isolated/handicap and have a very warped view of white people. It gets to a point where they barely have any social skills because they blame every instance of people not liking them on being black instead of addressing character/appearance problems. They also tend to self segregate to their detriment. Tariq has the social skills to understand when things are racism and when things are due to personality type ordeals.

I tend to look at Tariq as a gateway black activist.:patrice:

He's good for gaining an interest into getting in touch with your blackness and learning the rules of the game but you should move on to more reputable scholars with more academic credentials once you start getting more educated like Henry Louis Gates, W.E.B. Dubois, John McWhorter, Michael Eric Dyson, Melissa Harris-Perry, etc. A lot of them by themselves are dryer but Tariq makes it easier to understand where they all are coming from which makes it easier to get into their material and follow their writings.:ld:

I appreciate the fact that he instills in people black pride in an age where the cool thing to do is distance yourself as far as possible for any sort of black/African identity. I'm not saying you have to go ghetto/hood rat but you can appreciate African culture and still be a classy person. I don't really fukk with Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton, they seem like useless talking heads and they never interest me.

Didn't say they were attacking him, i'm talking about the supporters of each.

Tariq is factually more active than the aforementioned.

It's funny that you get mad if someone critiques your fave, but you're essentially diminishing everything that everyone else has done to spread knowledge in the black community. So he's the only person "doing shyt" for blacks? Seriously?
Not diminishing, but the facts speak for themselves.

Tariq ain't just filling up air time on couches talking about black sociology for the hell of it. The convo has gotta progress

If they aren't doing what Tariq is doing, then they aren't "doing shyt"? Gotcha!
No...but what are they doing?

:what:

Tommy is a charlatan who denigrates & disparages black women while Tariq is trying to economically empower the black diaspora.

Tariq may be a bit crass at times, but his overall message is one of advancement for black people.

I've seen some of his videos & I've heard some of his messages & I don't like it.He represents everything I am against.Just another ignorant opinion that holds no weight or value but he is entitled to it.:yeshrug:

I agree wholeheartedly. Both have their purpose, but I find it funny when people think that "talking" is the best way to solve various issues in the community (or pretend that there aren't men and women working on the ground daily to improve the black community).
I look at these "black voices" like Tariq and Marc Lamont Hill and Eric Dyson, and I wonder to myself, "just who are they talking to??" Not us, because we already know what's up. And certainly not white people, because they haven't listened to "black voices" for over 400 years.

Not true. All black people don't know whats up.

So, you suggest we just shut the hell up cause whitey isn't listening?

Where are you from? I need to move there.

No...but what are they doing?

The same thing Tariq is doing...spreading knowledge in the way that they feel comfortable with. Serving as role models and examples for black men and women. I know someone personally who randomly went up to Cornell West after seeing him speak and that eventually developed to a close mentoring relationship.

Tariq is mentoring "lay" people and these scholars are mentoring blacks on college campuses.

Again, they have their own lanes and own audiences (all black). I'm sorry to say but a mack/"pimp" isn't going to appeal to everyone. He's not going to be an example or have much credibility to certain types of people; however, he has his place and fulfills a need for people who can't related to individuals like MHP, Cornell West, and etc.

Well, I do think they serve their purpose. There are in fact a lot of people who don't know; however, talking can't be the only way.

Uhm, brotha, no disrespect, but didn't you join the military?

Yes, I was in the Army. Joined in my youth when we often make our mistakes. Though I won't say my serving was a mistake. If I came out brainwashed and caring for white supremacy then yeah.

My time in the Army made me more militant and conscious. It showed me that even in the closest society we have to equslity, there's still racism.

We actually need more brothers to infiltrate the white establishment and find out how they function. As long as they maintain their blackness.

It's why white people have dominated, they research and find out how things work. They infiltrate and study our movements. If this were truly a militant site lol...we would already be lost because look at who a large part of our members are. Best believe if it hit the fan, those members would have all the Intel they need on us to give to tptb.
