You can be an all-star Caliber player, just playing in a stacked position. Like if you had various HOFers like KG, Duncan, Shaq, Yao, Malone, etc who were all more noticeable during Gasol's first 4 years in the league in the early 2000s.
Gasol was an all-star player, headed right into his prime, and averaging 20/8 on 50% shooting when he got scooped by Phil.
nikkas actually arguing that Gasol isn't an All-star caliber player because he was going against nikkas like Garnett averaging 24/13, Duncan, and the like in the West when the big position was either stacked (Kg, Duncan, Shaq, Yao).
